Guests say

The Old Fisherman's Hut in Southwold is cherished for its superb location with stunning views and a cosy, rustic charm. Guests appreciate the property's warmth and the peaceful retreat it offers from a busy life. While some maintenance issues are noted, the unique character and tranquillity of the hut make it a favourite for many, with several planning return visits.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviews indicate a mix of experiences regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the property clean and comfortable, while others noted areas that could benefit from more thorough cleaning, such as dusty surfaces and dirty bathroom floors. The exterior cleanliness was also mentioned as needing improvement.

The location is highly praised for its magnificent views and proximity to local attractions. Guests consistently mention the idyllic setting and the convenience of being close to the river, beaches, and eateries, making it an exceptional spot for relaxation and enjoyment.

Comfort levels are generally well-regarded, with the property described as cosy and warm, particularly with the stove lit. However, some guests mentioned the bedroom being cold or cramped, and the bed in one instance needing repair, suggesting room for improvement in this area.

Facilities are adequate for most, but several reviews highlight maintenance issues such as plumbing problems, a broken mop, and inaccuracies in appliance instructions. While the kitchen is well-equipped, some guests suggest that the property could benefit from attention to detail and minor repairs.

While a bottle of wine was mentioned as a welcome gift, there are insufficient references to thoughtfulness in terms of consistent provision of gifts or additional amenities to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and not guaranteed.

Cleanliness was rather superficial. I had to wipe down all the very dusty surfaces in the lounge and the bathroom floor was really dirty behind the door and along the edges. A shame as otherwise it is a fantastic place. Your information stated we needed to bring teatowels but these were supplied. The cottage info states that there is no glass recycling but there is a bin which clearly says glass so that also needs updating.

    Very comfy and cosy.

The views from every window were spectacular. The bed was very comfortable but bedroom freezing cold (in August). Unfortunately the exterior was covered with cobwebs, lichen, bird poo etc - a little too far past 'rustic' for us but nothing a good clean wouldn't fix. Being so close to the river was v special but we didn't feel it entirely justified the price per night. We did enjoy our stay though and will be coming back to the area as a result.
