Guests say

The Lakeside Yurt in Tewkesbury offers a tranquil and picturesque getaway, with guests praising its serene location, abundant wildlife, and unique experience. The hot tub and privacy are recurrent highlights, while the yurt's comfort and thoughtful touches like robes and candles contribute to a relaxing stay. Some guests mention minor maintenance and cleanliness issues, but the overall sentiment is one of rejuvenation and eagerness to return.

Most guests found the yurt clean, with fresh towels and a tidy interior. However, a few noted cobwebs and outdoor areas needing attention. The balance of positive and negative comments suggests good but not impeccable cleanliness.

The yurt's location is consistently lauded for its peacefulness, beautiful lake views, and proximity to wildlife. The seclusion and natural setting are major draws for guests seeking a retreat from the hustle and bustle.

Comfort is highly rated, with guests enjoying the cosy bed and the warmth of the fire. Some guests noted the bed size and natural light as minor discomforts, but overall, the yurt provides a comfortable stay.

Facilities like the hot tub and BBQ are appreciated, but some guests reported maintenance issues such as a non-functional boat and outdoor lighting. While the unique facilities add to the experience, there is room for improvement.

Guests appreciate the thoughtful extras like candles, playing cards, and dressing gowns. While these touches enhance the experience, it is noted that such gifts are subject to availability and not guaranteed.

About this property

The Lakeside Yurt is a contemporary 16-foot round yurt, on the outskirts of the pretty village of Beckford, on the Gloucestershire/Worcestershire border, in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Offering a truly unique Gloucestershire holiday home for couples, this pet-friendly abode is set in an idyllic location overlooking the owner's fishing lake, boasts a plush roll top bath and an open-plan layout. Pull up and park, then take a moment as the quiet of the countryside settles in around you. Open the door to reveal a thoughtfully arranged studio-style space where everything has been designed to flow easily. Drop your bags, kick off your shoes, and move straight into holiday mode.

The kitchen area invites relaxed, unhurried cooking, whether you are warming something simple in the combination oven or frying up breakfast on the induction hob. With the dishwasher to hand, clearing away is effortless, leaving more time to linger over meals. Settle at the dining table and enjoy eating together while the lake provides a calming backdrop through the windows, then ease across into the sitting area and sink back in front of the gas coal-effect fire. As evening draws in, turn on the radio, let the flames flicker, and enjoy the gentle quiet that surrounds this special spot. There is no television here, encouraging proper switch-off and slower evenings with a book, music, or good conversation.

When it is time to unwind fully, draw a deep bath and step into the roll-top tub, topping up the warmth and letting the day melt away. Afterwards, climb into the double bed and drift off with the soft stillness of the lakeside setting just beyond the walls. A separate external WC keeps things convenient without interrupting the calm of the main space. Step back outside whenever the mood takes you and make the most of the veranda, furnished for leisurely coffees, relaxed lunches, and evenings spent watching the light change across the water. Fire up the Kamado barbecue for laid-back outdoor dining, or light the chiminea and fire pit once the sun dips, settling in with a drink as the flames crackle nearby.

The private hot tub sits close to the yurt, perfectly placed for long soaks while looking out over the fishing lake, whether under blue skies or stars overhead. Beyond the veranda, guests are welcome to wander into the owner’s field, stretch their legs with gentle walks, or take the rowing boat out onto the lake at their own pace. Fishing is available on site, with the lake home to a variety of freshwater species, making peaceful mornings by the water a real highlight. A well-behaved dog is also welcome, meaning your four-legged companion can share in the open space and quiet surroundings.

Slow things right down and escape to The Lakeside Yurt. Note: This property can be booked with Refs. 11980, 903586 and 921614, together sleeping up to 8 people.

Beckford is a small riverside village on the Worcestershire/Gloucestershire border. The village has a quality country inn, an attractive Norman church, and a nature reserve. Close by is Evesham, and elegant Cheltenham is also an easy drive away, with a good selection of shops, restaurants and the Gold Cup horse racing.

Yurt was adequate. Towels, sheets etc very clean. A quick clean of the inside and outside of cobwebs would help. Ice cube tray in freezer would be good. Location is beautiful and the variety of wildlife is amazing which makes up for the shortfalls. All in all this a unique stay but may not be for everyone.

Absolutely love this place. It's so quiet and has everything you need. Just had a new hot tub installed on the day we arrived and the owners checked in on us to make sure everything was OK. Abundance of wildlife. Lots of places to visit close by. Can't fault the yurt at all.
