Guests say

Island Yurt offers a tranquil retreat amidst Worcestershire's picturesque countryside. Guests praise the serene lakeside setting, abundant wildlife, and the privacy it affords. The unique experience of staying in a yurt, complete with a hot tub, sauna, and boat, is frequently highlighted. While some find the rustic charm perfect for a peaceful getaway, others suggest that the property could benefit from a refresh and more thorough cleaning.

Several reviews mention the need for a more thorough cleaning and mention cobwebs, spiders, and a general tired appearance. However, the interior cleanliness seems satisfactory to some guests.

The location is consistently praised for its beauty, tranquillity, and proximity to nature. Guests enjoy the privacy and the wildlife, making it an idyllic setting.

The yurt's comfort is well-received, with guests finding it warm and the bed comfortable. The peaceful environment contributes to the overall comfort, although some guests note the furniture could be updated.

Facilities like the hot tub, sauna, and boat are appreciated, but there are several mentions of maintenance issues and the need for updates. The presence of wildlife is a bonus, yet some guests report problems with the BBQ and other amenities.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

About this property

Island Yurt is a welcoming 20‑foot yurt set beside the owner’s fishing lake on the edge of the village of Beckford, close to the Gloucestershire and Worcestershire border within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. One of a small collection on site yet feeling pleasingly private, it offers couples a quietly distinctive place to slow down and settle into the rhythm of their surroundings, boasting a bubbling hot tub and a sauna. Arrive and park nearby, then pause as the water and surrounding calm immediately soften the mood. Step inside to a single-storey, studio-style space where the layout unfolds naturally, with each area carefully considered to support relaxed, easy living.

Bags can be set aside and shoes kicked off as the yurt gently encourages you to settle in. The kitchen forms a central part of the space, well suited to everyday cooking and unhurried meals, with an induction hob and combination microwave oven making it easy to fry something fresh or warm supper once the evening draws in. With a dishwasher quietly taking care of the washing up, time is freed up for lingering over food at the table or easing back into the comfort of the sitting area. As the day fades, the gas woodburner-effect stove brings a sense of warmth and atmosphere, creating a natural place to unwind.

Lower the roll-down screen, choose a DVD, and enjoy a pared-back film night that fits the calm character of the yurt. Later, the double bed offers a comfortable place to end the day, allowing the quiet setting to shape a slower evening routine. For deeper relaxation, the indoor two-person sauna provides a welcome retreat, ideal for warming up before rinsing off in the luxurious walk-in rain shower. Set just off the main living space, the shower room feels indulgent without interrupting the open flow of the yurt. Outside, the wooden veranda stretches along the water’s edge, creating a natural extension of the living space.

Sink into the private hot tub as the lake lies still nearby, fire up the barbecue for relaxed outdoor meals, or gather around the fire pit as dusk settles and the flames begin to flicker. With outdoor furniture arranged for lingering, mornings and evenings here invite you to stay put and enjoy the setting at your own pace. Guests are also welcome to take the rowing boat out onto the lake or spend peaceful hours fishing on site, with a variety of freshwater species adding to the gentle rhythm of days spent outdoors. A well‑behaved dog is welcome too, making Island Yurt a thoughtfully arranged escape shaped around the pleasure of open surroundings, warming comforts, and unhurried time together.

This was the first time in this yurt and the shower made all the difference. Thank you Sarah and Dave for your hospitality. Always look forwards to our stay .Sad the Geese aren't around but was nice to see the Swans ,Ducks and rest of the wildlife .

From the outside the property was a bit tatty, in need of a bit of TLC, however, on a plus side we didn't sit looking at the yurt, we gazed at the lake. We were concerned about our dog going through the fence to chase the geese, swans etc so we felt we had to block the gaps off with chairs and dustbins. It wasn't the best staycation but it certainly wasn't the worst either.
