About this property

This large, beautiful, former vicarage is situated in over an acre of garden

and orchard and is surrounded by its own field which is presently left

fallow to encourage the local bio-diversity. Located in Herefordshire, near to the village of Peterchurch with its pub,

shop and restaurant, it is well situated for Hay on Wye and the Back

Mountains.

Coming with its own private hot tub and beautiful wooden sauna, it is perfect for a relaxing getaway. Therapist visits can also be arranged for those looking for a massage or facial for the full pampering experience.

The garden and orchard offer something for everyone - climbing frame, football goal, top of the range outdoor table tennis, barbecue - you won't struggle to find something to do, be that summer or winter! Having been refurbished to combine classic Victorian features with the best of contemporary style, this property is ideal for large families with children or groups of friends looking for something a bit special to use as a base in this fascinating part of the country.

This delightful house has superb views from all rooms and is approached down a long winding driveway. The spacious entrance hall leads into the sitting room with comfy seating and spectacular views over the countryside. Move to the back of the property and there is a beautiful, modern, fully-equipped kitchen with 5-burner range, breakfast bar and patio doors leading onto the stunning garden. The kitchen also opens out to the dining area which has ample space to easily fit twelve people around the table and enjoy relaxing in front of the woodburner. Also on this floor is a utility room with table football, a toilet and a twin bedroom. Up the classic wooden stairs, you first see the sizeable family bathroom with roll-top bath and walk-in shower. Continue on and you will find a further five bright and generously sized bedrooms, two king-size double en-suite bedrooms, one double, one single and one family room with a double bed and a single bed. Another family bathroom with a corner bath completes the accommodation. Outside are large gardens where you can relax with a refreshing drink, participate in one of the selection of garden games, or enjoy a game of football with the children, a goal is even provided.

Take a leisurely walk to the village of Peterchurch where you will find the village shop and a selection of pubs and restaurants.

Further afield is Hay-on-Wye, the town of books, renowned globally for its annual Literary Festival and in the other direction, the city of Hereford, with it magnificent cathedral and the Mappa Mundi.

Walking is available from the doorstep with guides available and the Black Mountains and Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons) are easily accessible for a day trip.

The village of Peterchurch, with its handful of pubs and restaurants, is situated on the River Dore in the beautiful Golden Valley, flanked by the Black Mountains to the west and gentle hills to the east.

The kitchen diner was spacious and a focal point for our family gathering and the two dishwashers were well used as you would expect with a party of twelve. There was an instruction folder about all house information kept in the kitchen and email instructions beforehand giving clear information about the house and directions to the property. All were helpful. Lots of footpaths close-by to explore the countryside for the active members of the group. We had a wonderful weekend with our children and grandchildren, all leisure activities were happily tried, tested and enjoyed.

Here I found the kitchen of my dreams. The grounds and outdoor facilities were beautiful. We were sad to leave. A few minor niggles: more teaspoons, some larger, flatter pudding/pasta bowls, a mirror over the washbasin in the family bathroom and magnified shaving mirrors in all bathrooms would be greatly appreciated. Some toys in situ for small children would have made our stay perfect. Pat

The sauna and hot tub were well-used and enjoyed. The table-tennis and football tables were popular with the youngsters (and the young at heart). The open-plan kitchen diner was the hub of the house and the massive lounge was a great place in which to relax in the evening. There were very few negatives in relation to this impressive holiday house. The bed in the large en suite bedroom was uncomfortable. Televisions in bedrooms would have added to the luxury. A mirror opposite the drive would have made exiting the property by car safer.
