Guests say

FOXCOTE NEW COURT FARM is a spacious and well-equipped cottage in a peaceful location, ideal for large groups and families. Guests appreciate the ample living areas, comfortable furnishings, and the proximity to local attractions. The property's charm and the friendly hosts add to the positive experience, with some guests highlighting the joy of visiting nearby farm animals.

The property has received mixed feedback on cleanliness. Some guests found areas like the kitchen bin and cooker needing additional cleaning, and there were reports of unclean bedding. However, these seem to be isolated incidents rather than the norm.

The cottage is praised for its quiet and peaceful location, with easy access to Ross-on-Wye and other towns. Its proximity to local amenities and attractions is a highlight for many guests.

Overall, guests find the beds comfortable and the living spaces ample for relaxation. Some guests mentioned the floors and stairs being creaky, and one guest found the double bed too hard, but these are minor compared to the overall comfort of the property.

The facilities are generally well-received, with a well-stocked kitchen and comfortable sitting room furniture. However, some guests noted that the property could benefit from maintenance, such as a larger TV, better heating, and a refresh of the decor.

While guests have mentioned a welcome box of chocolates and a bottle of prosecco, there is not enough information to assess the consistency of such gestures across all stays. Therefore, it is politely noted that such gifts are a delightful surprise but not guaranteed.

Foxcote Cottage is located within a short travelling distance of Ross-on-Wye, Hereford and Monmouth, which was brilliant for accessing local shops and towns, while still being far enough away to enjoy the views and wildlife. The cottage catered very well for guests wanting to bring their furry friends along. It was spacious and well equipped, with plenty of cooking utensils, pots, pans and cutlery to support our stay. If we were to suggest one improvement to the kitchen, it would be a larger colander. The kitchen itself was well laid out, with a dining table that was comfortably big enough for our party. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. However, we wouldn’t recommend staying during the winter months. We were aware it would be colder when booking, but the radiators were too small to adequately heat the larger downstairs rooms, particularly the kitchen and living room. Upstairs did eventually become warm and cosy after the heating had been left on for a long period. The heating was powered by an oil burner, which caused the downstairs to smell when the door was left ajar, even briefly.Upstairs, once warmed, was lovely and comfortable. The beds were extra comfy and really did feel like a home away from home. One downside was that the floorboards were very creaky, which was slightly frustrating with two small babies after bedtime. Some underlay might help soften the noise.Overall, these were relatively minor issues, and the positives outweighed the negatives. We would recommend Foxcote Cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful holiday, close to small towns and with lovely walking routes nearby.

Let’s start with the positives, lovely big house, sitting room furniture was robust and comfortable, beds were comfortable, plenty of crockery and cutlery, all appliances worked well. Great location for a large party, welcome box of chocolates and a bottle of prosecco. The negatives are it wasn’t particularly clean particularly the kitchen bin and the cooker which we had to clean before we could use them and friends reported their bedding wasn’t clean either. We couldn’t get the showers warm so had to resort to strip washes. The stairs and upstairs creak really badly so individuals were disturbed during the night when others got up to use the bathroom. The whole place needs a refresh decorating really and the sitting room could do with a bigger television and additional heating as the radiators don’t really heat the huge room adequately. Having said all this if that sort of stuff doesn’t bother you then it’s a great place for a large family or group and only 10 mins drive to Ross on Wye.
