By car, you'll reach Ross-on-Wye Golf Club, ideal for a competitive afternoon on the course, Goodrich Castle and its medieval ruins, and Newent Arboretum, where you can enjoy a family picnic or opt for a walk or cycle. Towards the town you'll find River Wye, a peaceful setting, fitting for a quiet stroll, Coppett Hill, for those feeling energetic, and Symonds Yat Rock, a woodland track, perfect for hikers. Gloucester is also a short journey away, home to Museum of Gloucester, showcasing roman ruins, running from the dinosaur age to present time, the National Waterways Museum, set upon the docks, and Alney Island Nature Reserve, 80 hectares of wetland, with picturesque scenery across the River Severn. The community of Gorsley is located on the northern side of the Royal Forest of Dean, close to the borders of Herefordshire, Worcestershire, and Gloucestershire. May Hill and Malvern Hills tower over the village, while the Brecon Beacons can be seen in the distance. In addition to a thriving free house pub and restaurant known for serving the best Nepalese food in the county and beyond, Gorsley has a well-stocked village store with a Post Office and an off-licensing area. While the village is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is bordered by established woodlands with a number of well-liked walks, the Three Choirs Way and Herefordshire Trail pass by nearby.

The cottage was absolutely gorgeous - so cosy and inviting and there was a lovely welcome hamper for us on arrival which was extremely thoughtful and much appreciated. During our stay we went on some woodland walks with my children which was fun and we were out for hours but the owners had collated an information pack with many days out you could also explore which was very helpful. I would definitely recommend Steel works farm and would love to visit again!

Easily accessible from the motorway. We were three friends wanting to meet over new year somewhere quiet with lots of dog walks nearby. House was ideal for that, and was warm and cosy, comfy beds, and kitchen had everything we needed. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Lovely location and only a few miles from Ross. Thank you Jane for the generous welcome pack. The decorated Christmas tree in the lounge was a lovely surprise. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again.
