The picturesque Welsh Marches scenery surrounds the mediaeval market town of Ludlow, which is located on the River Teme. The town has a wonderful variety of architecture, including Ludlow Castle, which is almost 900 years old and one of the first stone castles to be erected in England. The town has more than 500 listed structures. The castle is now open throughout the year and offers a variety of activities, such as outdoor theatre, culinary, art, and literature festivals, as well as several antique and art fairs. A huge public riverside green and weir are available at Millenium Green, which is located beneath the castle. The Green Cafe, which is close on the river, also offers good indoor and outdoor dining options. Street markets have been held in Ludlow since the eleventh century. Today, the town square hosts a classic open-air market every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday of the year. With the "Local to Ludlow" produce market on certain Thursdays and a "Antique & Flea market" on some Sundays, there are more than forty stalls selling a variety of goods, including fresh vegetables, cheeses, books, and a selection of local crafts. Additionally, Ludlow is a shopping and foodie's dream. Numerous restaurants and bars, as well as upscale boutique-style clothing and gift stores, can be found in the town. Church Stretton, Shrewsbury, and Hereford are easily accessible from Ludlow, as are well-known destinations including the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site, Severn Valley Railway, Berrington Hall, Croft Castle, and Cardingmill Valley. Ludlow is a great place to go for a relaxed break any time of year.

Requested parking in my Sykes listing but there was no parking and did not know this until final details received but asked at Charleton Arms next door and they kindly allowed us to use their car park which was also excellent for food and evening drinks on the terrace overlooking the river. Property well equipped but missed a wardrobe in main bedroom, however wall hooks provided behind door. Drawers very stiff to open, bed comfortable. I agree with listing that stairs would prove difficult with mobility issues & down to cellar. There is a lot of traffic noise as house is on busy road. Mostly clean but there was evidence of animal hairs around. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return.

The lovely and well equipped house is located in a stunning location with great views out the back over the river. It is situated on a main road into Ludlow and this makes the parking difficult, as no allocated parking within close proximity.

The pilot light was out on the boiler so it took a while to get hot water when we arrived. The attic bedrooms could do with a brighter light. The stairs can be quite slippery being polished wood. However, we had a wonderful stay, the cottage was warm and comfortable, especially the beds. We wouldn’t hesitate to book this cottage again .
