A very enjoyable stay at The Wain House, which admirably met our requirements for a family party of eleven across three generations. It has almost everything you're likely to need, and the village shop and one takeaway (cash only) are about ten minutes walk away. Beyond this it's not far by car into Chirk. There's plenty of good walking, starting with the two famous aqueducts, and much else to do in the area.

We had a lovely weekend away with good friends. The house was spacious and had enough beds and bathrooms, and it was possible to drive to North Wales in an hour, so we had some lovely trips. However, the owner only provided us with hand soap in the downstairs bathrooms (despite requests for hand soap in other bathrooms- certainly no shampoo/ conditioner etc provided), and we had to request a small cloth and washing up brush, otherwise it would not have been possible to wipe down the kitchen and wash up. We would have much preferred this to the 'welcome pack' which was consisted of one cake. The owner called us a few days before to check on sleeping arrangements, and therefore, when we politely asked for an extra sheet and duvet cover so that one person could make use of the bedroom to sleep on her own, declined to provide this as we had not specified this in the telephone call. The towels were very old and worn. We did see a flea in one of the bedrooms. The owner was unable to give us any advice about visiting the local area e.g. with regard to parking. There was very scant information about the local area in the house. Overall, although we managed to have a lovely weekend and there was enough space, we felt that the owner could have been more generous (e.g. hand soap is fairly basic) and welcoming and provided more information and basic help like a sheet (would have been very cheap and easy to wash!)
