Tean is a large village in Staffordshire, England, south-east of Stoke-on-Trent. The River Tean runs through the village, heading east towards Uttoxeter. The village is itself composed of two villages: Upper Tean (the larger of the two) and Lower Tean, forming part of the Checkley ward within the Staffordshire Moorlands district. The surrounding area is predominantly farming / rural, and it is a short drive into the southern edge of the Peak District. There are a number of pubs and shops, nurseries, a village hall, three churches, and a small park. Further afield lies Stoke on Trent; the city boasts many visitor centres, award winning museums, authentic factory tours, over 25 pottery factory shops and the exclusive Staffordshire Hoard. Visit the Trentham Estate with Italian Gardens, Shopping Village, Monkey Forest, and mile long lake. Head to the ever-popular Alton Towers Theme Park and its plethora of amusements for a thrilling day out, accessible via a short car journey. The city is located less than an hour from Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool and only one and a half hours direct from London Euston by train.

The friendly hosts were helpful and communicated really well, letting me know I could check in early on the day and kindly lighting the fire for our anticipated arrival. There were fresh supplies in the kitchen which was a delightful surprise. My two young boys were very sad to leave and we’d love to return in the Summer holidays. The cottage was as described, but the only thing I could mention is that many of the channels on the “smart tv” weren’t working, and the Netflix/streaming facility was not available, but this wasn’t important to us as we didn’t watch much tv.
