I will start on the positive notes - it is a nice big space, so if you and need space then this is ideal. We only needed it for a place to sleep after 2 days at Alton Towers, celebrating a birthday, so didn’t spend enough time in the apartment to appreciate the spaciousness. It is convenient having a small kitchen facility and washing machine when away, however this is fairly normal so expected for holiday apartments/cottages. Now onto the negatives - firstly I should take responsibility for not properly investigating the road it is located on. It is a very busy road and opposite a police station. My own home is a few meters from an A-road and so I am used to some road noise. However, the owners have clearly not considered this when refurbishing the old pub into flats, and have kept the original windows. Due to this, the road noise was so extremely disturbing at night (so many police sirens!) that it awoke even my child that can sleep through anything… Apart from the road noise, we could also literally hear everything happening in the other apartments, doors being opened and shut, someone deciding to watch an action film at 3am….To say I barely survived the 2 nights there is an understatement. I’m still tired, 4 days later…Moving on: There are no instructions as to Wi-Fi code, which bothered the kids, not me. No instructions on what to do with key when checking out? Then the worst part. No hot water after 1 shower. Yes, 1 of us had a hot shower and then the hot water ran out. Messaged the owner who explained there’s a tank that takes a while to fill up and heat up and to space the showers out…. NOT ideal when spending a day out and coming home tired and wanting to shower and sleep!! The lack of hot water and decent sleep probably aggravated the other issues, which I would usually overlook. There was dirt EVERYWHERE. I don’t know who the cleaners are but they need a talking to. Body hair in beds, bathroom, sofa, wardrobes, kitchen counters….crumbs everywhere, blood spatters on bathroom floor - vomit markings next to toilet, smeared dirt on walls and doors - it really was quite something. I bought with a packed out antibacterial wipes to use on our days out but instead used it up wiping every surface in the apartment on our first night there (arriving at 9pm, great fun!) I have pictures of everything and happy to share with owner as reference - In addition, there are SO MANY broken elements in the apartment, clearly it was furnished with the cheapest possible internet finds and there’s were never going to last….a dining room chair, one of the sofas, wardrobe doors coming off hinges, bunk bed almost feeling unsafe with the amount of creaking and movement when you get on it and to top it all off, the toilet kept blocking up and not flushing properly. So all in all, AVOID AVOID AVOID. There are so many better places to stay at in the area where the owners take pride in what they have to offer, if you value your sleep and overall health, find somewhere else.

You have to pay for parking! Unles youre lucky enough to grab one a taxi has recently left. Friendly host. Clean house. Beds need replacing, very uncomfortable unles you like springs in your back.
