The Old Barn in Stoke-on-Trent offers a spacious and well-equipped retreat, ideal for large groups and families, particularly those visiting Alton Towers. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds, ample outdoor space, and the property's proximity to the theme park. While some guests have highlighted areas for improvement, the overall experience is one of a welcoming and convenient stay for socialising and exploring the local area.
Reviews indicate a mixed response regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the property to be clean and tidy, while others reported issues such as dust, cobwebs, and a general need for a deeper clean. The inconsistency in feedback suggests room for improvement in this area.
The property's location is highly praised for its proximity to Alton Towers, with many guests noting it as an ideal base for visiting the theme park. The convenience of the location for families and groups planning to spend time at the attraction is a significant positive aspect.
Guests generally find the property comfortable, with positive remarks about the spacious lounge, large garden, and comfortable beds. However, some guests mentioned issues with squeaky beds and the need for better mattresses, suggesting that while comfort is a strong point, there is room for enhancement.
The property is well-equipped for large groups, with a good kitchen and ample seating. However, guests have reported maintenance issues such as broken furniture, problematic showers, and electrical issues. These concerns indicate that while the facilities are adequate, they require attention and updates.
There is insufficient information to accurately assess the level of thoughtfulness as it pertains to gifts or welcome packages. While some guests mentioned the lack of a welcome package, there are no consistent references to gifts or special touches that would allow for a fair evaluation in this category.

It was exactly what we needed. Communication with host was also excellent. Thank you.

We had young children with us so would have felt more secure if the gate could close. It looked like it hadnât been closed in a while so was difficult to pull.

When we arrived there was a mini hamper box waiting for us which was a nice little touch. If someone has a disability issue there is a bedroom downstairs which was perfect for two of our guests with a bathroom just round the corner. There was another four rooms upstairs combing of double, twin and bunk beds. Also a bathroom upstairs. Each room had a small mirror for makeup etc and all the bedrooms were clean and tidy. The living room was a large space, penalty of seating as well as the kitchen. Plenty of cutlery, plates, mugs, pans etc. Three picnic benches outside which are ideal on a sunny day. Not too far was a pub called The Star I believeâ¦it was the perfect place for a few cheeky bevvies!! You can walk there but be mindful there are no footpaths and some crazy bends in the road so just be careful! Sarah the owner - great communication, incredibly helpful and polite. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!!! ONLY suggestion is a full length mirror - unless there was one and we missed it - sorry if we did!!
