A superb, Grade II listed stone-built property, situated in a delightful position in the rural village of Ipstones, on the western edge of the National Park. This exceptional property has been skilfully created from the conversion of a lovely old barn to provide spacious accommodation of a very high standard. Care has been taken to retain much of the original charm and character of the property including solid old beams and exposed stone. The accommodation is upside down to take advantage of the light and the barn's splendid natural features. The magnificent sitting room has a vaulted, beamed ceiling which is open to the eaves, while the second sitting room features a double bed, so you can relax with a good film. A rather special base for a relaxing holiday at any time of the year.

The impressive scenery is excellent for walking and cycling and offers miles of woodland trails and moorland hikes for all levels of ability. Dovedale and the limestone Churnet Valley are within easy driving distance, as is the Manifold Trail. Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Lyme Park are also very close by. We were really pleased to find somewhere with 4 bedrooms and bathrooms and plenty of parking spaces. First impressions were really good. It was spacious and we received a warm welcome from Malcolm and Norma next door (They were parents of the owners, who were themselves on holiday). Everyone chose their rooms and we opted for the one with patio doors onto the garden. We noticed a bit of a drainage type smell from the bathroom, but expected it to wear off once some fresh air had blown through the place. Unfortunately it didn't and got worse during our stay. My husband mentioned it to Norma who came round and admitted it was not very nice and brought some dettol. They contacted the owners but reported that there was little that they could do. Luckily for us, our daughter needed to leave on the Wednesday, so we moved ourselves to her room for the rest of the week. I'm not sure what we would have done otherwise as it was not pleasant to stay in our room. The smell did not go the whole holiday and was noticeable at times in the entrance lobby and corridor. However, we really couldn't fault the property otherwise. There was plenty of seating and the kitchen was well stocked with crockery and equipment (although we did struggle to find some of the saucepan lids). There were 2 fridges and a freezer, dishwasher and washing machine as well as an upstairs toilet off the utility area. We had a lovely week. There was a chilly wind but we missed a lot of the heavy rain and between us did several walks, The Churnet Valley railway, Alton Towers, rock climbing and a Treasure Trail in Cheadle and Buxton. Meadow Place was a cosy comfortable base from which to explore and return to at the end of the day.

Great having 4 en-suite bedrooms . Amazingly spacious living room where we gathered to chat watch a film etc Good sized dining room so we could all eat together. It's the second time we have stayed and I expect we will be back.
