Both local pubs are dog friendly a d within walking distance. The property is dog friendly too with hard floors downstairs and a hot water tap outside. The master bedroom (super king) was very comfy. Plenty of storage, drawer space and hangers upstairs The property was mostly clean although we did find a few dirty dishes, bedding and a used towel. The bins outside were full so we couldn’t put any rubbish out either. Owners were helpful and prompt to respond by text with questions we had. Initially this would have been a stunning property. Over time it has become tired and run down with pictures and shelves missing off the walls and marks on the walls, flooring, sofa and carpets. One side of the oven is also broken. This was fine for a couple but if 6 are staying this might cause issues. There are lots of small things that could make a big difference for example fixing the bathroom tap that turns 180°, a new remote control for the living room as some buttons don’t work and tidying out the drawers and cupboards. We were surprised that there was no guest book with things to do in the local area or so we could leave comments / feedback etc. This might help with recording small maintenance issues. Worth noting that you need to purchase logs/kindling for the fire and there is no welcome pack with things like milk, dishwashing tablets etc. I know this is at owners discretion but we’ve always had milk in places we have booked. We didn’t use the hot tub as we were put off by other reviews about the smell. As there was no guest book their was no information on how often it is cleaned, treated etc. I do think if Sykes reviewed this property they would unlikely retain 4 ticks as it’s not in comparison with others we have stayed in.
