About this property

Set amidst the rolling countryside of East Yorkshire in the rural village of Bempton lies Old Mill House, a stunning, four-bedroom cottage. Mixing both traditional and contemporary features throughout, whilst enjoying breath-taking views from the pretty gardens, Old Mill House offers a wonderful base for eight guests, well-located near the coast and Flamborough Outer Headlands Nature Reserve. Awaken to a morning coffee, grab your walking boots, and traverse the nearby nature reserve, with the RSPB Bempton Cliffs nearby, ideal for birdwatching, head to the Flamborough Lighthouse for coastal vistas, or hike through the Danes Dyke Nature Reserve. Why not head to Bridlington harbour and take a boat trip to spot dolphins and seals, along with thousands of seabirds and puffins? Park up off-road, taking in the tranquility of your new abode, before unloading your belongings and making yourself at home. Be welcomed by the spacious kitchen/diner with a lovely bench-style table, a host of state-of-the-art appliances, and beams overhead, where you can prepare meals and gather. The formal dining room offers a wonderful place to socialise, entertain and host dinner parties, whilst the private garden provides a picturesque space to dine alfresco, surrounded by pretty blooms and luscious fields. Cosy up in either the sitting room with a rustling open fire, or the snug with woodburning stove, providing plenty of space to unwind, delve into a good book and plan your itinerary. Four well-appointed bedrooms await upstairs, including two king-size bedrooms and two twins, all enjoying elevated views across the grounds. A bathroom and a ground-floor shower room are available, providing plenty of space to get ready in style. For amenities, the village has both a Post Office and shop, along with the White Horse pub, whilst further amenities lie in Bridlington, where you can also tour Sewerby Hall & Gardens, take to Bridlington Sea Front, or visit the Bridlington Animal Park. Travelling north to Filey, enjoy a beach day, discover the Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park, or continue by car up to the North York Moors National Park to enjoy both Scarborough and Whitby's seaside attractions. Or why not head, by car, to the historic city of York, or if you’re fancying a day without the car why not head into the village and catch the train directly to Filey, Bridlington, Beverley, and Hull? Escape to your own retreat at Old Mill House.

The small village of Bempton lies between Filey and Flamborough, on the lovely East Coast of Yorkshire. With traditional cottages a local shop/Post Office and White Horse pub, Bempton and the surrounding area have much to offer. Bempton Cliffs Nature Reserve, famous for its spectacular colonies of puffins and other seabirds nesting high on the chalk cliffs, is an absolute must for nature lovers, and there is plenty of good walking country for ramblers, with the spectacular North Yorkshire Moors and Yorkshire Wolds within easy reach. The area holds a wealth of historic houses including Sewerby Hall and gardens, and Burton Agnes Hall, both close to the village. The seaside resorts of Bridlington and Filey, both with superb, safe, sandy beaches and excellent amenities, have much to offer the whole family. Enjoy a spot of fishing, a boat ride, or explore the caves at Flamborough. A wonderful area to discover all year round.

The Christmas tree in the living room with the fairy lights was a lovely touch. Great for visiting Giley, Scarborough, Bridlington and Flamborough. Would definitely return the year, thank you

The property was amazing better than the photos! Lots of character and loads of space. Comfy beds and furniture and nice powerful showers and nice enclosed garden big enough for throwing the ball for the dog. Nice location, quiet but near to attractions. Sewerby hall was brilliant went to the gardens and walked down to the beach morning. Danes Dyke and Flamborough Head with it's bay full of dolphins are nice for walks and for a rainy day we loved the Scarborough Vintage Fair Museum and enjoyed a visit to the whisky distillery in Hunmanby close by. And it was always nice to return to a lovely cottage in the evening with everything available to rustle up a meal and settle down to plan the next day.

Minutes from the coast. Wonderful to wake up to views of the sea. My family and I had a much needed relaxing break.
