Guests say

The Old Tractor Shed is consistently praised for its cleanliness, modern and tasteful decor, and the warm welcome provided by the host, Chrysta. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities, comfortable furnishings, and thoughtful touches like a welcome pack. While one review mentions a damp smell in the bathroom, this appears to be an isolated comment. The property is an ideal base for exploring the East Yorkshire coast and offers a cosy and homely atmosphere for both guests and their pets.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The majority of guests have highlighted the property's spotless condition upon arrival, indicating high standards of cleanliness. One isolated mention of a damp smell in the bathroom slightly impacts the score.

The property is commended for its quiet village setting, ideal for exploring the East Yorkshire coast. However, one review notes the village's traffic as a concern for pet owners, which slightly affects the score.

Guests find the property comfortable and cosy, with modern fittings and a king-size bed. A single mention of an uncomfortable bed by one guest slightly reduces the score.

The property is well-equipped with modern appliances and a good welcome pack. There is a mention of the lack of a washing machine and a need for a mop, which suggests room for improvement in maintenance.

The welcome pack is frequently mentioned, showcasing the host's thoughtfulness. However, as gifts are not guaranteed, guests should note that such personal touches, while common, may vary.

About this property

This splendid, one-bedroom cottage sits within a private courtyard in the quaint village of Skipsea, East Riding of Yorkshire. With ground-floor accommodation, The Old Tractor Shed provides a lovely escape for couples eager to explore the coastline and spend time visiting the large seaside resorts of Bridlington, Hornsea and Scarborough. Boasting a bright and cheerful open-plan living area with exposed timbers, there is a well-equipped kitchen hosting all the mod cons required for a short break, a smart dining set and a snug seating area with bookcase and TV. Furnished to a high standard throughout, the pretty bedroom leads off the sitting area and hosts a plush Kingsize bed with neat ample wardrobe space for your personal items. Completing the interior is the contemporary shower room, a refreshing space to prepare for the day. The Old Tractor Shed is ideally situated to explore the Yorkshire Wolds made famous by David Hockney who has lived in Bridlington. The local village of Skipsea caters for everyday needs and has access to the coast and beach, whilst the traditional seaside town of Hornsea lies just five miles away. Those budding historians can visit the wonders of Skipsea Castle, which was a Norman motte and bailey castle dating back to around 1086, showcasing a wealth of historical architecture. Within a mile walk from the cottage will bring you to a gentle beach, which is ideal for those wanting a more calm atmosphere, while Scarborough, a bustling seaside town farther afield, promises to be a fun-filled day out. Wildlife lovers and walkers have Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast within easy reach for idyllic coastal paths, sandy bays, and spotting the likes of puffins along RSPB Bempton Cliffs. The majestic homes of Sledmere House, Burton Agnes Hall, and Burton Constable Hall are all worth seeing, and a day trip to York's stunning ancient city is a must. However you choose to spend your holiday time, return to the charm of The Old Tractor Shed for an evening of relaxation.

Skipsea is located in the Yorkshire Wolds, in a generally rural environment surrounded by rich, agricultural terrain, yet it is also only one mile from the beach and close to the North Sea cliffs. There is a Post Office and general store in the settlement, as well as a hairdresser and a pub. Cobbles from the seashore are used in the construction of many of the village's dwellings, both ancient and new. The ruins of Skipsea Castle may be found just outside the hamlet. The neighbouring countryside is ideal for walking and cycling, while the neighbouring seaside towns of Bridlington and Filey offer vast stretches of sandy beach and a variety of resort attractions. Hull's Deep Submarium, Sledmere House, and Burton Constable Hall are all within 20 miles, while historic York's shops, cathedral, and museum, Scarborough's resort town, and Pickering's North Yorks Moors Steam Railway are all within an hour's drive, and Whitby is only a short distance away, making Skipsea an ideal base for a relaxing holiday.

It is ideally situated to visit York and the surrounding towns of Whitby and Scarborough. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and the shower room is beautifully appointed. There is good quality bed linen and a king size bed which in my experience is unusual in a holiday cottage. Everything was clean and looked fairly new. Although the pub is across the road, we never felt it intruded in any way. I would not hesitate to recommend this cottage. Chrysta is lovely and it was comforting to know she was just across the courtyard should we have needed anything.

We enjoyed our stay and would like to thank the owners for a good stay we had there.. would recommend this for any couple and their pet to stay.

Listing says Garden/Patio which reads as a grassed area is available. There is only a small patio at the front of the accommodation and a communal area in the courtyard, both which are not to be used for dog toileting. The village is extremely dangerous for pets and owners due to the excessive speed from traffic when trying to find a grassed area for toileting.
