The Lodge at Owstwick Hall is a charming and cosy cottage, highly praised for its spacious, secure garden—perfect for dogs—and relaxing hot tub. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, and peaceful rural setting, making it ideal for a relaxing break. The property is well-suited for families and dog owners, with helpful hosts and easy access to local attractions by car. While some guests noted minor maintenance and cleanliness issues, as well as the absence of a welcome pack, the overall experience remains very positive and many would happily return.
Most guests found the property clean and comfortable, though several mentioned areas needing improvement, such as cobwebs, mildew, and occasional dirty kitchenware. These issues appear to be isolated rather than consistent, but suggest some variability in cleaning standards.
The rural location is peaceful and ideal for dog walking, with easy access to local towns and beaches by car. Some guests noted the proximity to a road and the need to drive for amenities, but overall the setting is appreciated for its tranquillity and countryside charm.
Guests consistently praised the comfortable beds, cosy living spaces with a log burner, and the secure, spacious garden. The property is well-suited for families and those with mobility needs, with a convenient downstairs bedroom and bathroom.
The hot tub and large garden are standout features, and the kitchen is generally well-equipped, though a few guests noted missing utensils or minor maintenance issues. Some facilities, such as the hot tub and BBQ, could benefit from updates, but most guests found everything they needed for an enjoyable stay.
While the hosts are described as helpful and responsive, several guests were disappointed by the lack of a welcome pack or basic essentials, despite it being mentioned online. Gifts such as welcome packs are not guaranteed. Dog-friendly touches could be improved with extras like treats or beds.

Lovely cottage but think being so close to the road should be described in details as it could put people off. Very disappointed there wasn't a welcome pack. No tea towels or oven gloves (had to buy our own). Dead bugs in windowsills. Hot tub was welcome but could do with an overhaul jets needed replacing.

Second time we’re stayed at the Lodge, First impressions are very impressive. The place is exceptionally clean, the beds very comfortable, the outside space and garden are incredibly good and safe. The dogs absolutely loved it.However if your dog is on the more reactive side, then there is sheep and goats in the field behind and you are rightNext to a “B” road although not too busy you do get traffic going past. The only gripes we had, the hot-tub is definitely coming towards its end of life and could do with replacing. The cover is heavy to get off and the jets some don’t work and the ones they do are poor. After that then perhaps something like What3words to find the place as the postcode doesn’t.Finally the Roos Arms 5 minutes up the road do fabulous Sunday roast
