Surprisingly this cottage was actually inside a large barn! Astrid responded to any messages/calls promptly and Daniel was on hand to show us around. It is spacious and warm inside and we loved the bathroom with its sauna. I love to cook so could have done with a few more dishes, etc but managed to make do. The bedrooms are spacious and even when you convert the single trundle bed into a double it would still be faiirly roomy. It could have done with at least a hanging rail in there if it was fully occupied. You need to walk down the hill to see/hear the river, once you get past the sheep . From there it is a lovely walk into the town where pubs and eateries are plentiful. The views from the cottage are lovely but I believe the shed perched in front spoils the flow especially from the living area and main bedroom. The Six Dales trail is on the doorstep and we enjoyed walking it in both directions (there are seating places if you go Pateley bridge direction, not so going towards the reservoir). Mixed weather during our stay but it didn’t deter us from getting out and about. A lovely cake and provisions to make drinks were left which was a lovely touch, thank you.

Clean, comfortable, private and peaceful holiday spot, yet only a 15 minute walk to the town centre along the riverside path. Parking on site. Good value for money. Thank you for the welcome pack - the home made cake was delicious, ideal for our picnics on walks from the door. All you need can be found in Pateley - butchers, bakers, Spar and Nisa, plus cafes and eateries. Recommended,

My husband, our two teenage daughters and I greatly enjoyed our stay in River View Sanctuary. The cottage was comfortable, well equipped and cosy and the views just beautiful. There was a sheltered and very quiet outdoor area too, which was visited by lots of birds. It was lovely to receive a delicious cake as welcome. We appreciated the books available, especially the ones about Yorkshire. It was interesting to learn more about the area and to have an OS map for our walks. If you love exploring on foot, Pateley Bridge is just the place for you. From our cottage we could walk to the river and choose routes in various directions. We loved the dales, grassy hills and moors and also enjoyed finding out about Nidderdale in the local museum. We would highly recommend this cottage.
