About this property

Treat your family to a holiday in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales that they will remember for a lifetime. The Old Vicarage is a gorgeous early-Victorian property that sleeps 9 people (10 by arrangement) in five bedrooms. Original features and antique furnishings are brought into the 21st Century with the addition of a high-quality entertainment system, WiFi and a 15-metre indoor swimming pool with a Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Guests have plenty of space both indoors and out, with direct access to the River Swale and stunning views from every window. The owners have worked hard to create a space that is both welcoming and luxurious, earning a 5-Star Gold Award from Visit England.

The Old Vicarage is a beautiful early-Victorian house which comfortably accommodates up to nine people (or ten by arrangement with the use of a Z-bed) in five bedrooms. The owners have expertly renovated and updated the property to offer a very high standard of accommodation that thoroughly deserves its Gold rating and every one of its five stars awarded by Visit England. Original features sit comfortably alongside contemporary luxuries and guests have exclusive access to a superb indoor and outdoor leisure complex that includes a 15-metre heated indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, fully equipped gym with table tennis and table football, together with an all-weather tennis court and football pitch.

The owners would argue that there is nowhere more picturesque than Swaledale and the Yorkshire Dales, and plenty of visitors would agree! The house is surrounded by extensive gardens and fields in a tranquil location that is unmarred by noise and light pollution. Every room in the house benefits from beautiful views, some of which extend towards the River Swale, while others overlook flowering meadows where Highland Cattle graze contentedly and whom younger guests love to befriend for their gentle nature. Guests have access to a private stretch of river good for fishing, bird watching and even spotting the odd resident otter, and there are lots of lovely countryside walks that weave their way from the house and through the surrounding landscape.

Stocking up for your self-catering holiday in the Yorkshire Dales is as simple as a short drive to Richmond, where there is a wide variety of independent shops and boutiques as well as lots of places to eat and drink. The quality of the local produce is extremely high and there are some excellent farm shops in town, as well as supermarkets that stock all of the essentials and a farmers' market that runs on the third Saturday of every month. Try the artisan food outlets in The Station, Wilfred Deli and Pantry on Finkle Street, and Mocha Chocolate Shop in the Market Place.

You won't struggle to work up an appetite during your stay at The Old Vicarage. Active guests will love the wealth of footpaths in the vicinity while cyclists are spoiled with miles of road and mountain bike routes to challenge every ability. Popular attractions for a day out include Big Sheep Little Cow, The Forbidden Corner, Wensleydale Creamery, and Lightwater Valley. There is no shortage of historic buildings and houses including Newby Hall and Richmond Castle, with local museums and galleries offering an insight into the life of the people who have made this place as welcoming as it is beautiful.

The Old Vicarage is a wonderful setting for a holiday with your extended family or friends, offering everything you could want including an excellent standard of accommodation and lots of space with plenty of nearby attractions that will appeal to everyone.
