Guests say

The Olde Cow House in Church Stretton receives high praise for its beautiful, spacious accommodation and family-friendly farm experience. Guests appreciate the well-equipped property, the engaging farm activities, and the thoughtful touches like children's toys and homemade cookies. While the additional cost for the swimming pool and gym facilities is noted, the overall experience is cherished, with many expressing a desire to return.

Reviews consistently mention the property being clean and well-maintained, with only a single mention of flies and wasps which seems to be an isolated incident. The overall impression is of a very clean environment.

The property's location is described as peaceful and remote, ideal for a quiet holiday. It offers beautiful views and is appreciated for its proximity to local walks and nature, contributing to a positive experience.

Guests find the property comfortable, with spacious rooms and cosy features like log fires. The beds are generally liked, though a few guests found them a bit soft. Overall, the accommodation is seen as homely and inviting.

The facilities, including games rooms, tennis courts, and farm activities, are highly praised. Some maintenance issues like a shower head needing replacement and confusion over pool costs are noted, but these do not significantly detract from the overall excellent facilities.

The hosts are commended for their thoughtfulness, providing extras like toys, games, and cookies. While these gestures are greatly appreciated, it is politely noted that such gifts are not guaranteed and may vary.

About this property

The Olde Cow House, dating from the 16th century, offers a superb mix of olde world charm and modern amenities, and has been beautifully renovated, retaining a wealth of exposed original oak beams, wall timbers, brick and stone walls throughout every room. A very special property, one of four superb Shropshire cottages, in a lovely rural location. Note: This property can be booked with ref 1020, 1021 & 1191 to accommodate 38.

Set amidst the rolling hills of the South Shropshire countryside, the village of Cardington boasts the oldest pub in Shropshire - The Royal Oak - which is mentioned in the Domesday Book. Its rural location makes a wonderful base whilst sightseeing and the village provides miles of country paths in all directions through the beautiful Shropshire hills, making this an excellent spot for cyclists and walkers. There is a wide variety of birdlife - including buzzards, woodpeckers and ravens, as well as the Acton Scott Historic Working Farm, Severn Valley Steam Railway, Stokesay Castle, Shrewsbury, Ludlow and the Ironbridge Gorge – boasting as many as 10 museums. The attractive market towns of Church Stretton - known as 'Little Switzerland' by the Victorians - and Much Wenlock are both within easy driving distance and offer a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants.

Extremely comfortable beds and bedding. Quiet countryside location and plenty of things for kids to do. All in all a very pleasant stay. Thanks.

They really have thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable. Sara and David were incredibly helpful and friendly. We went for a family holiday that accommodated everyone’s need and this farm really did offer it. The kids loved the freedom of the play area and visiting the animals and the adults loved the peace and quiet that the location offers. We will definitely be booking to return. Thank you for an amazing stay.

It was extremely well maintained and equipped without losing any of the charm of its rich history. Our party ranged from 4 years old to 74 years old and everyone had a great time. The swimming pool was rather luxurious and we all rediscovered table tennis. The go carts were a surprising hit but the little ones loved the independence of being able to go to the extremely safe playground. This was only surpassed by the feeding of the animals and the daily excitement of retrieving the chickens’ eggs. The evenings were so relaxing after the daily excursions to The Long Mynd and Carding Mill Valley. This was a memorable holiday.
