Reeth, a charming and well-liked village, is tucked between Calver Hill, Fremington Edge, and Harkerside at the northernmost point of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where Arkengarthdale and Swaledale meet. Reeth, which is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty with attractive rolling hills and breathtaking views, has a colourful past since it was first settled by the Saxons and has since been recognised as a lead mining town and a centre for hand knitting. The Swaledale Museum, which is situated close to a wide variety of stores, tea cafes, and restaurants, proudly displays both trades. Reeth has three options for historic inns, including the charming Buck Inn, which is whitewashed like many of the 18th century houses clustered around the triangular village green. Furthermore, accessible old market towns like Richmond and Leyburn provide a wider range of amenities. Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater, and Hardraw Force (England's largest single drop waterfall at 99 feet) are all within a short drive of Askrigg. Whether you prefer to explore the caves, cliffs, waterfalls, or any of the numerous walking and cycling routes that encircle this colourful and varied terrain, Reeth makes for an excellent starting point for exploring North Yorkshire's stunning, sweeping countryside.

It is in a beautiful location. Kate the owner was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed with 2 young puppies, a St Bernard and labrador (Yogi and Molly), the cottage was very suitable as it had a track immediately outside the front gate with lovely walks. We will be booking again. Michelle and Alan, Yogi and Molly.

The cottage was very comfortable especially the beds, we all slept very well, especially after days spent walking quite a few miles rediscovering old Lead Mines and discovering others. A well equipped kitchen, a good sized fridge/freezer a bonus as we cooked every evening except one. The lovely hot water was also very welcome, although we were a bit cold in the evenings as the cottage takes time to warm up even with the heating settings turned up, however it was quite a cold week and we managed. If I could just make one suggestion it would be to put some blinds/curtains in the kitchen this would make for more cosiness and privacy. May we recommend The Red Lion, Langthwaite, Raby Castle, White Scar Caves, Reeth Swaledale Museum and Keld Heritage/Resource Centre and Farm Tea Room as excellent places to stop off and/or visit.
