Just back from a wonderful stay at Low Seal House. If you want peace and quiet then this is the place for you as it is certainly off the beaten track. The house is huge - and has been lovingly restored by the owners. The kitchen is certainly the hub of the home. The views are stunning. Sitting in the window seats with a coffee on a morning is a real treat. Upsides: Apart from the location... the owners have pretty much thought of everything, and is well stocked with books and board games if you have children. Good kitchen facilities and staples in the store cupboards to use. Downsides: The nearest shop is a good few miles away in Reeth, so it would have been nice to have received more of a welcome pack than biscuits and sachets of milk, and the oven and air fryer could do with a good clean. Could do with more lighting in the living room without having to use the 'big light'.

Low Seal House is a beautifully restored farm house set in a wild, very magical landscape of Arkengarthdale. It sits overlooking a wonderful valley. The wood burner is lovely in the evenings. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you need home from home. The garden is enclosed for dogs but our springer jumped over the wall into fields. There are numerous great pubs near by. We had a steak in the CB Inn which was excellent. Ayresgarth Falls are nearby (featured in Robin Hood film) , along with Bolton Castle (imprisoned Mary Queen of Scott’s), Barnard Castle, and shed loads of walking. The Tan Hill Inn (highest pub in England) can be reached via Regional route 71 which is a beautiful drive. We saw a pair of owls. An amazing quiet location.
