Perched amidst the delightful Yorkshire Dales National Park, Wayside Farm offers a splendid escape for families seeking exploration of this idyllic region. Upon entering, you are immediately charmed by the high quality finish; to one side rests an open-plan kitchen and living area. A walk through to the adjacent side provides a delightful sitting area, home to a spacious corner sofa, woodburning stove and Smart TV, creating a homely ambiance, ideal for enjoying your down time. Serve a home-cooked dish at the dining table, toasting to a much-needed break with your group, before loading up the dishwasher and planning for tomorrow's adventure. Whisk yourself upstairs and retire to the bedrooms, offering two double rooms with en-suite showers and a pretty bunk room for the little ones. There's also a sumptuous family bathroom with bath and shower over, so you can best decide how to prepare for the day. Muker is also home to a tea room, crafts shop and village store, handy for grabbing any essentials. Those looking to get their steps in, can find the beautiful Pennine Way path running through the village; taking you along miles of charming landscapes steeped with history and spectacular scenery. While in the area, be sure to visit two of the area’s most popular waterfalls, Kisdon Force and Wain Wath Force, which make for a sight not to be missed. Take your exploration further afield and spend an afternoon wandering the market town of Richmond, home to many independent shops and an impressive Norman Castle. Wayside Farm promises a splendid escape, whatever time of year.

Muker is a settlement and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England, at the western end of Swaledale, one of the Yorkshire Dales. It is located within the Richmondshire district. Muker has seen an increase in visitors and holidaymakers since the late 1800s, and today the village offers a variety of walking possibilities, including a network of public footpaths in Upper Swaledale. Muker also has a village shop, a tavern (The Farmers Arms), an art gallery, a craft shop, and a café housed in an old school building. The Muker village tea store, which was formerly the Vicarage, was erected in 1680 and retains much of its 'Olde worlde beauty' today. The Muker Village shop has a Park Information Point for the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Parish Church of Saint Mary, a Grade II* listed building, is the only church in the settlement. The River Swale runs alongside the settlement, with Kisden Hill providing a lovely backdrop.

We throughly enjoyed our stay here & would love to return.

The village of Muker seems to be in good health. Even though we didn't meet the owners, we felt very welcome. The lack of any outdoor space - for parking or just sitting - is the one slight disadvantage, but this is made very clear in the property listing.

The log burner in the kitchen/diner appeared to be out of order with the cord door liner detached and lying loose. A warning note should have been left - rang the caretaker who confirmed it should not be used. He also said a bag of logs would be left for us the following morning for the fire in the sitting room - which they were. House took a while to warm up but after this misstep everything was great. The house is very well kitted out with super comfy beds and a really excellent sofa. All the kitchen equipment is good and the layout of the kitchen/diner makes for companionable cooking and chatting. The walks right from the doorstep are fabulous and we were lucky to be there when the newly reopened pub had just started providing food - the tea shop is also excellent. The house provided a fabulous base for exploring beautiful Swaledale and we were fortunate to experience the wonders of the Northern Lights while we were there.
