Ellis House in Filey is praised for its excellent location close to the beach and town centre, as well as its spacious bedrooms and comfortable beds. Guests appreciate the modern decor and the property's suitability for larger groups. While some found the house clean and comfortable, others noted issues with cleanliness and maintenance, particularly in the bathrooms and kitchen. The outdoor space and some facilities could benefit from extra care. Despite these points, most guests enjoyed their stay and would consider returning.
Reviews are mixed, with some guests finding the house clean and comfortable, while others reported issues such as dirty kitchenware, bathrooms, and outdoor areas. Several guests had to clean upon arrival, and there were complaints about the cleaning service's responsiveness.
The location is consistently praised, being just a short walk from the seafront and town centre. Guests found it ideal for beach access, though parking can be challenging during busy periods.
Guests generally found the house comfortable, with spacious bedrooms, quality linen, and cosy beds and sofas. Some noted the lounge was a bit small for larger groups, and one guest found a single bed uncomfortable.
Facilities are adequate for group stays, with multiple toilets and a well-equipped kitchen. However, maintenance issues such as a broken blind, missing bathroom mirror, and limited hot water in some toilets were noted. The outdoor space and some kitchen equipment could be improved.
A small welcome pack with tea, coffee, milk, and a tea towel was provided, but guests noted that cleaning supplies and soap were limited. It should be noted that such gifts or supplies are not guaranteed and may vary.

The house is in a great location and was big enough for our needs, there were 7 of us in total but it does need some TLC. When we arrived the cleaning company were only just arriving to clean the property for us and didn't manage to clean it fully. We still managed to have a great stay though and I would stay at Ellis House again.

The dishwasher was stinking consequently every kitchen item was very dirty. Also, Saucepans, cheese grater and colander had been put away unwashed. The toilet upstairs and some sinks were filthy. Kitchen seat covers were food stained and all the knives and knife rack was completley unwashed. Cupboards could do with a clean. The top floor single bed was very uncomfortable. The yard was dirty, furniture in a mess and eggs and bins overflowing. I had to clean all the above before we could use it. I had to buy all the cleaning products and cleaning clothes, dish cloth, scrubs, plastic bin bags and washing up liguid etc. I had an immediate response to the condition of the above and the cleaning company asked for a convenient time to visit. I gave them two convenient times but both was ignored. We waited in. I got in touch again and they complained to me that i hadn't left a key! They did not ask me too. How was i to know that there is only one key to the property! Only the yard was tidied. I complained again but was ignored. Apart from the above, the house itself was good. The furniture and decor was fine. The kids had games and books provided. The cleaning agency has let the owner down considerably and this is a big shame as the house was obviously comfortable and what I expected. If the cleaners had responded to my complaints, I would be leaving a different review all together.

As the welcome pack says, former family home, it has been nicely adapted for a holiday let, but had a few small issues that are evident to anyone occupying the house, these were mainly bathroom related: no mirror , door lock mechanism was 'sticky' might be an issue if used by a child, shower shield not fully effective with water pooling behind toilet. Kitchen tap was prone to drip, and the kitchen surfaces areas were a bit limited. The lounge, and bedrooms were all great. The location is perfect being a 5 min walk to the sea front.Parking on, or near the road is tricky, as there are extensive parking restrictions.
