The Bait Shed in Filey is highly praised for its excellent location close to the beach, town, and local attractions, making it an ideal base for exploring the area. Guests consistently mention the cottage’s spotless cleanliness, comfortable and well-equipped interiors, and thoughtful touches for families and children. The private parking is a valued bonus, though noted as tight for larger vehicles. While the property is cosy year-round, some guests found it warm in hot weather. Overall, it offers a welcoming, home-from-home experience with many guests eager to return.
Multiple reviews highlight the property as spotlessly clean and very well maintained, with no negative comments regarding cleanliness.
The location is repeatedly described as ideal, close to amenities, the beach, and public transport, with only minor mentions of hilly terrain.
Guests found the cottage cosy, comfortable, and homely, with comfortable beds. One review noted it could become warm in hot weather, but overall comfort is highly rated.
The cottage is described as extremely well equipped, especially for families and children, with outstanding kitchen equipment and plenty of entertainment options. The only minor issue raised was the lack of through breeze in hot weather.
Guests appreciated the small touches and thoughtful provisions for children, such as toys and games. While gifts are not specifically mentioned, the attention to detail and readiness for families is frequently praised. Please note that any special touches or gifts are not guaranteed.

Lovely cottage BUT not enough of the windows will open and even in September it was horrendously warm in the living area, we had to turn off the heating in every single room to try and cool it down with only the main upstairs window and bathroom windows to try and create a through draft. Also, DO NOT book if your car is fairly modern in size, the driveway is very tight indeed. I was in a 16yr old Kia Soul and it was a daily struggle. I noticed many neighbours reversed up the quite narrow road, as turning points are non existent if everyone else has already parked, they are mainly on street. If you cannot access the drive there is nowhere to park without causing serious obstruction.Cottage had all the amenities you would expect and was very nice upstairs, though we found the beds very hard. We were on a house hunting trip in the area and so it suited our needs beautifully with easy walking access to town and beach, Tesco and gardens. GREAT place for families, Xbox, DVD, Games etc. Only downgraded from 5* because of the windows issue and the parking difficulty.

Extremely well appointed holiday cottage. There was nothing we needed that hadn't been provided. It was clean and well kept. The location is ideal. Close to the town, train station and beach. The road is narrow and the parking space is tight but we were able to park our car in it.

Kitchen equipment outstanding. I gave a low score as the property has no means of giving you a through breeze in the hot weather and so the accommodation became unbearable to relax in. There was one fan but seriously need to consider providing more- or getting the windows to open above stairs and on the side wall. If it was my property it would have to have air conditioning upstairs to work.Would do a return visit in the winter though.
