Guests say

Guests have generally enjoyed their stay at Northcot, praising its beautiful setting, comfortable beds, and the peacefulness of the village. The property's character and the hosts' hospitality, including treats for both humans and dogs, have been appreciated. Its proximity to shops and beaches adds to its appeal, although some guests noted issues with cleanliness and maintenance.

While some guests found the property spotless in the past, recent feedback indicates a decline in cleanliness, with mentions of cobwebs, dirty curtains, and a strong sewer odour. This suggests a need for more thorough cleaning and maintenance.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity and convenience, being close to local amenities and beaches, making it an ideal spot for a peaceful retreat with easy access to attractions.

The majority of guests found the cottage comfortable, highlighting the comfortable beds and the homely feel of the property. However, some concerns were raised about practicality for senior guests.

There is insufficient information to accurately score the facilities and maintenance as a whole. While some guests were satisfied, others reported issues with sewer backup and limited cooking utensils, which suggests inconsistency.

The hosts' thoughtfulness is evident in the warm welcome and treats provided to guests, although it should be noted that such gestures are not guaranteed and may vary.

Bed was comfortable and lots of towels provided. Loved the fire and courtyard - especially at night, the lights were gorgeous. Cleanliness let down the property - the oven needs cleaning, there were alot of cobwebs and a very strong dog odor in the sitting room (we had to buy febreeze and candles) Quite a fair bit of water damage in master bedroom, kitchen corner and sitting room ceiling. Water pressure of shower downstairs could benefit from a boost.

Having two sitting rooms was a bonus as was the super kitchen/dining room. Hutton Buscle is a delightful village which is in a conservation area and being now by-passed, it's so tranquil with ample parking in Main Street. It's a perfect location if you want to explore North Yorkshire. Although we admired the stylish bathroom and ground-floor shower room, we didn't think the fittings very practical for those of us 'senior guests' and whilst the staircase had a bannister on one side, the other was completely open. A house handbook with instructions on the use of appliances, refuse collection etc would have been very useful. These comments, are, however, just niggles as we loved Northcot.

The house although old was very interesting and we spent a few evening wondering about the stories it could tell. Enjoyed watching the geese fly over at both ends of the day and the clip clop of horses hooves at various times of the day. Had a challenge tidying up our rubbish as the outside wheelie bins are the same colour as ours but are for different types of waste so we hope we put ours in the correct one.
