Guests say

Braeside Cottage in Whitby offers a charming stay with its excellent location and comfortable furnishings. Guests appreciate the well-equipped property, stunning views, and proximity to local attractions and walks. While some minor issues were noted, the overall experience is highly regarded, with special mentions of a welcoming pub nearby and thoughtful touches like wine and biscuits.

Most guests found the cottage to be beautifully clean. However, a few mentioned issues such as a greasy grill pan and an odour from the shower room, suggesting room for improvement in cleanliness standards.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to the beach, local pub, and shops, as well as for being an ideal starting point for scenic walks and exploring the area.

The majority of guests found the beds very comfortable and the cottage cosy, although there were personal preferences regarding mattress firmness that affected comfort for some.

Facilities are generally well-received, with the cottage being well-equipped. However, there were significant concerns about bathroom functionality, which impacted the overall experience for some guests.

Guests mentioned thoughtful gestures such as wine and biscuits on arrival, which contributed positively to their stay. However, as these gifts are not guaranteed for every guest, they cannot be factored into the score.

an inviting, three-bedroom home.

guests and their furry companions with a homely base, ideal for a

the Cinder Track through the countryside, before returning home for

sundowners.

Enjoy all of this at Braeside.

The charming village of Fylingthorpe is located just a short distance from Robin Hood's Bay and its fishing community. This village, which is located inland from the shore after ascending a treacherous curving route, was founded by Scandinavians in the ninth century and is now a lively village with a variety of services. Purchase some fresh bread at the neighbourhood store, Thorpe Stores, or fill up on necessities at Barnard's, a small bakery. After a long day of exploring the North Yorkshire coast, The Fylingdales Inn is a warm spot to unwind with a pint. However, the nearby community of Robin Hood's Bay has a greater variety of pubs and bars, several of which have magnificent sea views. When you are ready to continue exploring, turn onto the Cleveland Way and walk up to the wonderful Whitby town centre, where a variety of delights are waiting for you. While there, visit the eerie Whitby Abbey, which is thought to have inspired Bram Stoker to write Dracula, and then descend the 199 Steps to the beach. If you want to learn more about sailing in the past, enjoy exploring Whitby Museum, go on a Whitby Storyteller Guided Walk, or visit The Endeavour Experience. A great place to start exploring North Yorkshire's attractions is Fylingthorpe.

It has very effective heating as well as the fire so really cosy for a winter holiday. The tasteful Christmas decorations gave it a lovely festive feel. It was great to have a good food pub just down the road as well as the places a 15 minute walk away in Robin Hoods Bay. It'd be lovely to go back in the summer and enjoy sitting out at the back of the cottage watching the sunset!

The kitchen was well equipped and the bed very comfortable. Loved the deep bath. The area was great for walking with easy access to the cinder track and Cleveland Way. Really nice pub in village too. Would definitely recommend and we’d stay again.
