Just 2 miles from the picturesque sea resort of Filey, this spacious, dormer bungalow offers comfortable holiday accommodation for two families. Set in a small village, directly opposite the local inn, and with its own garden, the property has four bedrooms and four bath/shower rooms. Filey’s wide sandy bay is bordered by the rocky Brigg to the north and the magnificent chalk cliffs of Bempton, with rspb centre, to the south. This unspoiled resort has long been a favourite for families, and the wide promenade along the beach offers mini golf, paddling pool and cafes. Scarborough, 7 miles, has a colourful harbour, fishing trips, two wide sandy bays, Sea Life Centre, excellent theatre, restaurants and shopping. Historic seaport of Whitby, 28 miles. An excellent area for walkers, the Cleveland Way follows the cliff-top paths and inland the Wolds Way Walk meanders through the villages and farmland. North Moors National Park, 10 miles. Places of interest in the area include Sledmere and Burton Agnes Norman Manor House. Castle Howard, 35 miles. City of York, 40 miles. Shop 300 yards.

Would have loved to have given a better review but due to the circumstances I cannot. Positives - location is quiet and close to Filey, Bridlington and Scarborough which is great for the kids. - lovely play room space although mainly young child toys but this didn’t stop our two 5 and 6 year olds playing in there. - good outdoor space with swings for the kids to play - house is a good size and we had 6 adults and 3 kids and it didn’t feel like we were on top of each other Negatives - the house was not well cleaned there were massive bunches of cobwebs in all rooms and when some furniture was moved slightly there was rubbish under so clearly deep cleaning has not taken place - we found a child’s homework piece under the bed dated October 25 so isn’t just a recent issue. - there were flies everywhere, we had to use numerous items to alleviate this (at our own cost) and this did not even really help. Fly papers in all rooms had double figures of flies at the end of each day thus was how bad it was. - the oven caught fire while cooking using the grill (this was an accident not a fault in the equipment) however when we contacted the owner they did not enquire about if everyone was ok the only thing they cares about was whether the oven had been put on too hot and if there was damage to their property. Other than the rubber seal on the ones there did not seem to be any damage however we wanted someone to come and check to ensure that it was safe and no damage had been done electrically due to the fire which had to be put out with the fire blanket. This was refused and we were told that they could not get anyone out to see to the oven until the following weekend when we would have left (the accident occurred on Monday) which left us with no cooking facilities other than a microwave and hob for the remainder of the week. We had significant cost added to the holiday due to having to eat out during the day for such a large group and the owner showed no care about the accident or our safety and had no intention of checking the safety of the equipment after the event nor repairing it during our stay. I would therefore not recommend the bungalow due to the owners attitude and lack of response as well as the basic lack of cleanliness of the property.

It was a nice sized property and it gave us what we wanted, the kids said it was a bit old fashioned but they liked the space.

This is a very welcoming house. V clean and well prepared. There isn't much to do in the village itself, but it is near beaches and attractions on the North Yorks coast. And The Bull was a good place to eat, though better to go early, especially if there are children. There was only one person combing serving behind the bar, taking food orders, and waitering, so it was slow. There is a bus service to Scarborough, Bridlington and Filey, which we didn't use, but saw other people doing that. And the garage on the main road has a Londis attached to it, so some local shopping is possible.
