You couldn't be better placed for exploring the wonderful history inside this seaside town, including the famous ruined Whitby Abbey. Perched on a clifftop, this former abbey was said to have been the inspiration for Dracula and the home of the first known English poet, boasting a wealth of history and stunning views. If country walks are your thing, then visit Pannett Park, where you can explore the themed gardens and the local history museum whilst your four-legged friend can run and stretch their legs. Whitby beach is also popular with the locals and tourists, perfect for spending the afternoon relaxing on the soft sands, or swimming in the clear waters. Challenge yourself to the famous 199 steps and see if you can make it to the top to find the sweeping views across the town and distant coastline.
