Guests say

Felicity House is a beautifully presented, spotlessly clean cottage in a prime location in Staithes, offering excellent amenities and a rare parking space. Guests praise its well-equipped kitchen, modern bathrooms, and cosy atmosphere, making it ideal for families and dog owners alike. The cottage’s elevated position provides lovely views and easy access to local walks. While some mention minor issues with heating, hot water, and tight parking, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.

Cleanliness is consistently praised, with multiple guests describing the cottage as spotless and immaculately presented. Only one review mentioned the kitchen could have been cleaned more thoroughly, but this was a minor point among overwhelmingly positive feedback.

The location is highly rated, with guests loving the central yet peaceful spot, proximity to the village, sea views, and direct access to walking routes. The steep hill and seagull noise are noted but do not detract significantly from the overall appeal.

Guests find the cottage very comfortable, with cosy furnishings, comfy beds, and a welcoming atmosphere. A few mention issues with heating controls and one comment about uncomfortable mattresses, but most feedback is very positive.

Facilities are a standout feature, with guests highlighting the well-equipped kitchen, modern bathrooms, wood burner, and thoughtful touches for dog owners. Minor issues include occasional hot water or heating quirks and a tight parking space, but these are outweighed by the positives.

Many guests appreciate the thoughtful provision of dog blankets, basic supplies, and a comprehensive information book. While these touches are frequently mentioned, please note that such items are not guaranteed for every stay.

The village has a good local pub serving food, as well as a shop for essentials. Staithes is a great place for fossil hunting and in the summer you see many children enjoying searching the rock pools and crevices for these fossils. The village is like stepping back in time with its cobbled streets and quaint, quirky cottages that lead down to the harbour where you can sit and enjoy a drink with the locals at the pub. Staithes has now become a great artists retreat with an excellent art festival held every year.

The property is perfect for those walkers amongst you as you can walk along the clifftops following the trail to Whitby and further on the Robin Hood’s Bay and Ravenscar. Really lovely cottage that lived up to our expectations. Rooms spacious and very comfortable. Bright and yet cozy. Facilities excellent. We had a struggle with working out how to use the electric oven but got there in the end. Staithes is very pretty and the Cod and Lobster pub is amazing for range and quality of food. Do book a table early as we had to wait a bit but the staff were very helpful to us as "Walk Ins" and we didn't have to wait long. Nervous drivers would possibly be daunted by the access to the parking bay at the cottage and would be wise to consider this as there is no other parking in the village. The hill is very picturesque but consider this carefully if you have mobility concerns as it is very steep.Could not fault this cottage for value. Lovely place to stay. Thank you.John

A fantastic cottage, fully equipped with absolutely everything you could need to fully self cater, a very informative book to answer any questions about the house and local area menus and takeaway leaflets. A pretty tight parking space but I managed in my Ford kuga so not bad at all! Fabulous views and it’s on the Cleveland way so easy to get up the cliff tops and walk the dogs. Everywhere in the house spotless but dog friendly so can recommend for both pet lovers and non pet owners! I cannot wait to rebook

Excellent 10 night stay at Felicity House - with 2 Adults & 2 children. The house was very spacious - with newly refurbished bathrooms and master bedroom. Beds very comfortable- if you like a firmer mattress (we do!) The master bedroom bedding was amazing! Great location, parking was tight - but we were aware of this & know that a parking space in Staithes is very rare! The kitchen was one of the best equipped kitchens weve ever stayed in - with all of the cookware/utensils youd ever need - and then some! Fridge was small (however, fine for a shorter stay). The only negative points were that the kitchen could have potentially done with a more thorough clean & the washer/dryer needs updating. Felicity House is old and you must be prepared to wait for the heating/hot water to work - but this just requires a little bit of forward planning (which i found out on night 1) Would highly recommed & definitely stay again!
