In an elevated position with views across the quaint fishing village of Staithes, this four storey fisherman’s holiday cottage stands just 100 yards from the beach. 10 miles to Whitby with its Benedictine Abbey, Captain Cook’s house, museum and marina. Inland the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, scene of ’Heartbeat’ with walking and choice of inns. Shops and pubs within 100 yards.

We were very dubious about booking after we read the reviews. Wanted 5 days away with our dogs. Value for money. Although needs a deep clean overall it was acceptable. I want armed with bleach cleaning products but only had to wipe down surfaces to be fair we clean enough. No hot water but shower was good and it didn't take long to boil a kettle. Not suitable for elderly people, or with disabilities definately not for the weak bladders lol,as 35 steep stairs from kitchen to the bathroom. Damp smells soon went when windows open, it was built in the 1840s I wouldn't go in the winter months as I would imagine it would be very cold. But would return in the summer.

Staithes is beautiful and the cottage is right in the centre with easy access to the beach. The kitchen is not at all fit for purpose. It is dirty, damp and very shabby. As previously stated, no hot water. The fridge was dirty and smelly.The rest of the house is ok, although generally quite shabby, there was piles of dust under the bed and furniture. The beds and bathroom were clean. We had a good few days but mainly because we were out and about. I could imagine it would be very drab in the winter months
