Guests say

Blacksmith's Cottage is praised for its excellent location, comfortable beds, and large, dog-friendly garden. The village pub is a highlight, offering superb food within walking distance. While some guests find the cottage to be clean and well-equipped, others note areas in need of a refresh and deeper cleaning.

Reviews are mixed regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the cottage clean, while others reported cobwebs, old food around the hob, and a pungent smell. The variance in experiences leads to a slightly above-average score.

The location is consistently praised for its quietness, proximity to York, Leeds, and Wetherby, and the local pub. Its convenience for family visits and local attractions contributes to a high score.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the lounge cosy, but some mention a noisy boiler and hard pillows. The overall comfort is deemed satisfactory, with room for improvement.

Facilities are adequate with a well-equipped kitchen and heating system, but some appliances need maintenance or replacement. The presence of a large garden is a plus, though some guests noted wear and tear throughout the property.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

A lovely cottage in a really good location - very handy for the city centre and park and rides. Nice pub just a short walk away that served lovely food. Only thing I can find to fault is the pillows in the double bedroom - they were very hard!

Location was fine for us with locality to McArthur Glen and the Racecourse and the area is very quiet and peaceful, we tried the local pub on one night and it was very friendly and welcoming and food was good pub grub. The house itself was warm and the lounge was comfortable but rest of the house looks very tired and unloved and there was a pungent smell downstairs that we couldn't get rid of during our stay. Some basics were missing compared to other places we've stayed (eg no hair drier and no milk) and it could really do with an outside light for doorway and driveway for safety.
