We had a lovely week at this cottage and the owners, Lyn and John, could not have been more helpful and their cat and dog gave us lovely welcome every day. It is situated at the end of a small village with stunning views across to the North Yorkshire moors. There a number of walks around the village and the next village of Hoveringham (which has an excellent bakery). York is only about 20 minutes drive away and there is plenty to do there e.g. the National Railway museum and the “Shambles”. Eden Camp has a wonderful array of military artefacts and you can certainly spend a whole day there. Further afield you are just under an hour from Whitby and the North Yorkshire Moors railway. We would certainly go back to Highfield Barn.
