There were sheep wandering past the front door. A swallows nest outside the window we would see coming and going , and watch the swallows flying over the river. It felt magical and one of the favourite places we have stayed.

The cottage was clean and welcoming ( included welcome package of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits ) -much appreciated. It is well equipped with all you need for a self catering holiday. The open fire in the evening made it very cosy, views from the window are fabulous. Loved watching the sheep grazing on the greens. Good food at the Crown opposite and also at The Moors Inn. Loved the little coffee shop at The old school House which do lovely bacon rolls and coffee for breakfast. Good walks from the cottage and The Ryedale folk museum is well worth a visit. The only bug bear was the hob, which is now quite old and frustrating to use. Otherwise five stars. Thank you! We hope to be back.

Can I suggest some oven gloves and more than one tea towel would be useful in the kitchen. The cottage was very clean and comfortable with a welcome pack waiting for us . The dogs loved the garden which in good weather we would have enjoyed sitting out in .
