About this property

Selah is a lovely ground-floor apartment, overlooking the sea in Killyleagh, County Down. Enjoying a central location with easy access to amenities, this accommodation is ideal for two couples or four friends. Leave your vehicle at the rear of the property before exploring your holiday home, where you will be welcomed by an entrance hallway. The open-plan living space is light and airy, with a splash of blue; here you can make use of the electric oven and gas hob to prepare home-cooked meals. After a day filled with fun, you can freshen your clothes with the washer/dryer and have a fuss-free clean with the dishwasher.

Gather at the dining table to tuck-into delectable meals, as wine is poured, and plans are made for the following day. Savour the sunset from the front patio and watch the waves crash before heading inside and flickering through the Smart TV. When sleep calls, choose between two double bedrooms offering tasteful furniture to house your belongings. In the morning, awaken tired eyes with a wash in the shower room whilst your towel keeps fluffy on warm on the heated rail. If you're looking for a place to eat, drink and be merry in Killyleagh, you won't be disappointed. There are several great restaurants and bars in the area, each with its own unique charm and atmosphere.

At the heart of the village is the stunning 12th-century Killyleagh Castle, which dates back to John de Courcy and is well-known locally as ‘The Fairytale Castle’. The castle is believed to be the oldest inhabited castle in Ireland and at one time offered protection from the Vikings. Picnic Delicatessen is the perfect vantage point to appreciate the majestic castle whilst sipping a coffee and enjoying many culinary delights. Also, not to be missed within the shadows of the castle are craft and art galleries and the traditional pub The Dufferin Arms. History buffs can also explore The Sir Hans Sloane Visitor Centre which tells the story of the famous Killyleagh-born Physician who amongst many things, brought drinking chocolate to Europe - in recent years, Killyleagh Castle has hosted the Hans Sloane Chocolate and Fine Food Festival.

Just a few hundred metres from the holiday accommodation is also the renowned restaurant The Smuggler’s Table. The Quay walkway and the Net Walk Launch Point offer scenic views over the water. The village also offers a selection of shops to stock up on the essentials. Just paces away from Selah is the Delamont Country Park. Boasting the Millennium Stone, fabulous walking and cycling trails and spectacular views across Strangford Lough. Nearby Fodder Farm Shop and Tipi Cafe with its lake walking trail is also not to be missed. Within a short driving distance of Selah is Saul Church known as the 'Cradle of Christianity' in Ireland and the location of the first church built by St Patrick.

St Patrick’s grave and the St Patrick Visitor Centre are in the nearby town of Downpatrick. Travelling further south, visitors arrive at the seaside town of Newcastle where The Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea. The town also boasts many fabulous shops and eateries. Further afield are three National Trust properties - Castle Ward, Rowallane Gardens and Mountstewart Estate. Castle Ward features Audley’s Castle and for Games of Thrones enthusiasts, the Winterfell Castle and Demesne. Selah is a stunning location for exploring Northern Ireland.

County Down's Killyleagh, located south of Strangford Lough, is a historic hamlet. History aficionados will love exploring the Killyleagh Castle Towers, which date back to the 12th century, while nature lovers will appreciate the Net Walk Launch Point, which gives stunning views of the water. Locals refer to it as "The Fairytale Castle" since it is both one of Ireland's oldest inhabited castles and a former bastion against the Vikings. In addition to the Dufferin Arms and Picnic Delicatessen, the village has a number of restaurants and businesses where visitors can enjoy local food. Sir Hans Sloane Visitor Center, The Quay, and Delamont Country Park are just a few of the other attractions in the hamlet. Among the many things to do in Strangford is the National Trust's Castle Ward and the Portaferry Windmill, both of which are housed in the village. Several dining options, such as The Artisan Cookhouse, which serves up wonderful, locally sourced fare, are nearby. The Titanic Belfast is a must-see for anybody interested in Belfast's maritime heritage, and the Botanic Gardens are a lovely place to relax and take in the sights and sounds of Belfast.

Warm comfortable everything anyone could need. Location perfect, open the curtains to the french doors in the morning to look over the lake. And the same view twinkling at night. Met by the owners, delightful couple and little Zach! We hope to go again, Mourne mountains, giants causeway, titanic, just so much to see and do!

Great view, and nice outdoor patio to enjoy it if the weather had been better. It was lovely to receive the welcome pack with some essentials and goodies to help us settle in. The appartment was very comfortable and well equipped, and in the perfect location for exploring Northern Ireland.
