Nearby Whitehills harbour on Scotland’s Dolphin Coast is packed with yachts - the historic fishing village has pubs and restaurants and you can enjoy freshly caught fish from ’Downeys’ famous fish shop. Less than 10 minutes walk away is a golden sandy beach, home to Banff Surf Club. Inland is Boyndie, which was home to an RAF Strike Wing in wwii, where Mosquito planes took off to attack U-boats in the North Sea.
Along the coast, picturesque old ’seatoun’ Portsoy was used as a film location for a remake of the Ealing classic ’Whicky Galore’. In Banff, golfing, fishing, cycling and walking are all available. ’The Whisky Trail’ begins in Aviemore and follows the Speyside Way ending in banff, where Duff House is one of the stops on ’The Castle Trail’ walk. The cottage is ideally placed for exploring the spectacular coastline of the Moray Firth - named as one of the top 12 of the world’s most beautiful and unspoiled coastlines by National Geographic Travel magazine.Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
