What a place to stay.Joan is so lovely and has clearly put so much into looking after it.The castle is definitely a unique place to stay, rich in local history, and so spacious. We did not expect the suite to be as large as it was. It is well furnished and tastefully decorated to suite it's location. The award winning cafe down in the main area of the castle was brilliant, so even though there is a well stocked and full functioning kitchen, you can pop down for a bite to eat.The staff in the castle are brilliant and so friendly.I think the only thing that could improve it would be the heating. The castle is not modern by any means, so there is no central heating. Which is fine and completely understandable. The rooms are heated by several oil and electrical heaters. Keeps the suite warm, but due to cold temperatures and high ceilings it was certainly got a little chilly at points since we were there in winter, but not to the extent that it made our stay uncomfortable. There are 2 beautiful fireplaces that would be ideal for having a log burners installed and would certainly contribute to heating up the space and would not take away from the style of the place.Would this stop me from coming again? Not in the slightest. This was truly a wonderful place to stay. We will certainly be back again.

A very unique stay and very beautiful. We were able to walk around the grounds and castle. Can get a little noisy with high winds, but the rooms stayed warm and comfortable.
