About this property

Kirriemuir 7 miles. A charming cottage in the hamlet of East Murthill, with a spacious open plan living area Enjoy superb walking and cycling. A superb base from which to explore this beautiful area. This cottage can be booked with Ref. 1904 to accommodate 12 people.

Situated in the valley of Strathmore and regarded as the gateway to the Angus Glens, Kirriemuir is a lovely red sandstone town amidst some of Scotland's most unspoiled landscapes. This stunning settlement was the birthplace of the renowned novelist JM Barrie, best known for his children's character Peter Pan who was the subject of the film 'Finding Neverland'. His house is now a museum looked after by the National Trust for Scotland and a statue of 'the boy who never grew up' can be found in the town itself. Another literary landmark is close by in the form of Glamis castle, Shakespeare's setting for his unluckiest of plays, Macbeth. Kirriemuir also hosts an Aviation Museum and the historic Pictish Stones at Meigle as well as hill-walking in the Angus Glens.

It was in a good location for both travelling to the coastal resorts and also to other highlights .We visited Glamis Castle on a sunny day&saw it at its best. The grounds are beautiful and especially enjoyable for our wee dog who loved exploring there. The cottage was very comfortable and the owners very friendly. The welcome gift of wine and shortbread was appreciated as was the personal welcome visit on the day of our arrival.

We will definitely be back .

After a warm welcome from Lynnette and a nice welcome pack ( wine etc. ) The open plan lounge kitchen diner is comfortable and spacious, with patio windows overlooking private patio and enclosed garden. The upstairs bedrooms are spacious and well fitted with wardrobes drawers and dressing table in each, the downstairs bedroom is less well fitted out as the double bed takes up most space. The cottage is situated with towns coast and countryside easily accessible by car. Overall I can recommend this cottage !!
