Just a mile away is the main island town of Rothesay and where you will find castle ruins, a harbour and a selection of shops, not to mention Mount Stuart House, which is a very popular attraction. To the North of Rothesay, through the small community of Port Bannatyne, lies Ettrick Bay, a lovely beach which is easily accessible and safe for swimming. Rothesay is a wonderful area in the Isle of Bute, with so much to see and do, including visiting the castle ruins, taking in the stunning scenery, discovering the wonderful Mount Stuart House and playing a game of golf on one of the island's three golf courses. Accessed via a ferry crossing, either from Wemyss Bay or from the crossing to the north of the island from Colintraive, this is a beautiful area to explore.
