Hilibre is a stunning lodge sitting in an elevated position in the village of Strachur, overlooking the beautiful Loch Fyne in Argyll. The lodge boasts its own private hot tub with stunning views over the loch. Strachur has a shop/post office /café just across the road, and the pub is a short walk along the beach if the tide is right, if not you can go along the road, it’s just minutes away. It is a fantastic base for exploring all that Argyll has to offer and is a pathway to the great outdoors, views that are breath taking, wildlife on the doorstep, fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking, hikes and great wild swimming spots all just across the road from the house. It really is the perfect place to unwind and relax after a hard day exploring on an activity filled holiday.
The surrounding area is known as Argyll’s Secret Coast with its sparkling sea lochs, romantic ruins, ancient forests, and stunning scenery. This coastal route takes you through some of the most stunning parts of Argyll’s Secret Coast; a magical undiscovered corner of Cowal. A number of public gardens are located in the area, such as Ardkinglas, Crarae and Benmore Botanic Gardens with its avenue of giant redwood trees. There are three golf courses available locally and many opportunities for a spot of fishing. At Colintraive there is a short ferry crossing over to the picturesque Isle of Bute and a visit to the fabulous Victorian Gothic Mount Stuart House is a must. Inveraray is also a great day out with the castle, the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll and the 19th century Inveraray jail, both well worth a visit. The town of Dunoon is approximately 20 minutes and offers a good centre for shopping, leisure facilities and a small cinema. The Argyll Forest, part of the simply gorgeous Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park is on the doorstep and has numerous forest tracks, marked walks, cycle ways and wonderful waterfalls to explore.

Would recommend Hilbre house very highly. A lovely stay. The house was nipping clean, warm and cosy. Great kitchen, fantastic views and beautiful surroundings. Beds very comfortable, ensuite shower fantastic. Whirlpool bath was a great bonus. Everything that you would need for a fantastic break. David our host has thought of everything. Sitting in the amazing hot tub with views across the Loch was an experience we won't forget. Just before we arrived we received a text from our host explaining where to find the house and welcoming us. Look for the waving wooden bear in the garden . We will definitely be back 10/10
