Guests say

Tigh-Na-Creige is a well-equipped cottage praised for its comfort, stunning location, and quality facilities, including a hot tub and extensive garden. Guests enjoyed local wildlife, starry nights, and nearby attractions. Some minor cleanliness issues were noted, but overall experiences were positive, with thoughtful touches appreciated.

Most guests found the cottage to be well-maintained, though there were isolated comments about needing to clean cutlery and finding dog waste in the garden. These seem to be exceptions rather than the rule.

The location is consistently lauded for its beauty and proximity to nature, with clear night skies, wildlife sightings, and a loch-side setting. It's considered a highlight and a strong point of the property.

Guests have described the beds as super comfy and the house as cosy, with a large garden and private beach access contributing to the overall comfort of their stay.

Facilities are generally praised, including the hot tub and garden. However, there were issues with the hot tub heating and a bathroom not being ready upon arrival, which suggests some room for improvement in maintenance.

While guests mentioned thoughtful touches and a welcome pack, there is no specific mention of gifts. Therefore, it is not possible to score this category accurately, and the score is set to null.

About this property

Boasting its private beach, eco-friendly Scandinavian hot tub and beautifully maintained gardens, this spacious modern cottage is just fantastic for group get-togethers, families or retreats.. Tucked away in a small corner of Argyll’s Secret Coast, one of the most enchanting parts of the west of Scotland is Tigh-na-Creige - the ‘house on the crag.’

Nestling within the mountains of the Cowal Peninsula and 5 acres of landscaped grounds, this is a captivating waterfront location with its own sheltered beach and private slipway.

The gardens now also feature a luxury 5-person Scandinavian-style circular, wood-fired hot tub. This enjoys bubbles, LED lighting, hydrotherapy massage jets and spectacular views over the nearby sea.

Built on one level, the owner has remodelled the space so the kitchen flows seamlessly into the dining area. It offers roomy open-plan living, perfect for enjoying a good book or a favourite film in front of the cosy log-burning fire. Tigh-na-Creige’s kitchen is very comprehensively equipped and was upgraded in 2021, with superb kitchenware and an inspirational chef’s library.

Guests enjoy uninterrupted views of the sea and the spectacular scenery of the cottage’s gardens and woodland. Loch Riddon is a designated National Scenic Area with a famous viewing platform on the opposite shore. The area has been featured in many Visit Scotland commercials because of its beauty. Just beside the kitchen, there is a stylish sun trap deck area and terraced gardens providing a secluded spot for dining, with a log-burning chiminea and spectacular garden lighting for the cooler evenings.

Set on the shoreline, this cottage has access to a mooring (by arrangement), and is perfect for taking in the views. The sea welcomes wild swimmers, kayakers, sailors and fishermen, while stalking and coarse angling are available locally.

Immediate local history covers a Viking battle in the glen, the destruction of the neighbouring castle in the Argyll Rising and training grounds for World War II’s Dambusters and mini submarines!

Argyll’s Secret Coast boasts isolated beaches, pretty villages, delightful fishing ports and some great local dining in upscale pubs or the celebrated Inver and original Loch Fyne Oyster Bar restaurants. Popular tourist attractions include the spectacular Portavadie Marina, Mount Stuart, Inverary Castle, the towering trees of Ardkinglass, Benmore Botanical Gardens and seasonal visits to Rothesay and Tighnabruaich from the world’s only ocean-going paddle steamer, ‘The Waverley’. The Isles of Bute, Arran, Jura and Islay are all easily reached by ferry.. 6 steps to entrance.

Wonderful week spent here in Oct 25 with our young children. The house is very comfy and well equipped with high quality kit. We found the beds super comfy with wonderful views of the garden and loch. We loved the beach where the kids went crabbing every day, the hot tub was great - took a few days to get the hang of heating it but was lovely to have a dip and watch the night sky which are incredibly clear on a good night and you can see millions of stars! This is a destination rental with plenty to do without travelling anywhere - we did explore Kilbride Bay which is beautiful, Otter Ferry, Old Castle Lachlan (short walk), Inveraray Prison and Castle and went to the Colintraive for our tea and had a lovely meal. There is a small shop within 20 min drive, we picked up our weeks shop from Tesco in Greenock and came over on Western Ferries which was good fun. Roger was very helpful and the information sent over before we arrived allowed us to plan some of our trips out.
