Guests say

Am Bruadar cottage in Dalmally offers a cosy and comfortable stay, ideal for large groups and families. Guests appreciate its great location for exploring the Highlands and hill walking, with convenient access to shops, fuel, and nearby towns. The property provides a warm atmosphere with a log burner and is well-equipped for a pleasant holiday experience.

The property is generally well-received for cleanliness, though there are mentions of areas for improvement, such as the presence of mould in the showers. This suggests that while the overall cleanliness is satisfactory, attention to detail in certain areas could enhance the guest experience.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to Munros, the convenience of local amenities, and the ease of exploring surrounding areas like Oban and Inveraray. Its setting is ideal for those looking to enjoy the natural beauty and activities of the Highlands.

Comfort receives mixed reviews, with several guests finding the beds uncomfortable. However, the house is described as cosy and warm, indicating that while the mattresses may need upgrading, the overall comfort level is adequate.

Facilities are generally good, with the house being well-equipped for guests' needs. Minor issues such as insufficient cafetieres for a large group and difficulty adjusting room temperature are noted, suggesting room for improvement in ensuring all facilities meet guest expectations.

While guests mention complimentary items, there is a specific complaint about out-of-date milk packets, which impacts the perception of thoughtfulness. As there are no other references to gifts or special touches, it is not possible to provide a comprehensive score for thoughtfulness.

The whole area is full of historic castles and churches, close to the village and well worth visiting is Glen Orchy Church which is of unusual octagonal architecture as well as monument on the mountainside, dedicated to Duncan Ban MacIntyre – the celebrated 18th Century Gaelic poet. Just 5 minutes’ drive is the small inland loch-side village of Loch Awe, which is well served by a general store and post office, a hotel, and a newly refurbished inn. Loch Awe is Scotland longest freshwater loch and has superb fishing, enchanted islands, and deserted castles to explore. Loch Awe has a number of beautiful attractions to visit including the stunning Kilchurn Castle, St Conan’s Kirk and Cruachan Visitor Centre, all within a 5 minutes’ drive.
Nature lovers will be spoilt for choice with many Nature and Forestry reserves offering walking and cycling routes, all available locally. This part of Argyll has miles of unspoilt countryside with fantastic mountain, woodland, and coastal walks to enjoy. With Oban, the Gateway to the Isles and Inveraray, the home of the Duke of Argyll, both just a 30 minutes’ drive, there is plenty to explore. Oban gives you access supermarkets, ferry terminal, shops, cafes, restaurants and has a cinema, leisure centre and Oban whisky distillery. Glasgow Airport and the cities of the central belt are within reasonably easy reach.

Great location for bagging nearby Munro’s. Cosy & comfortable home.

Ideal place for a large group, just needs a slight update.

Lovely location and property, good facilities. One negative were the beds, they were very uncomfortable, which was a pity. Other than that, had a lovely time, would come again but, only if the beds were changed for comfortable mattresses or thicker mattress toppers. The complimentary milk and items should’ve been checked beforehand too, 2 years out of date milk packets not the best. Aside from that, a great base to see the surrounding areas.
