Private parking for 4 cars. No smoking.. Kinvara is a spacious detached villa, situated in a quiet area on the edge of the bustling harbour town of Stranraer. Stranraer, the ‘gateway to the Rhinns of Galloway ‘, was for more than a century a busy ferry port between Scotland and Northern Ireland. Take a stroll down to the Harbour or enjoy a meal in one of the many places to eat in the town. There are many attractions from delightful clifftop walks to historical sites and beautiful Gardens within a few miles of the town. A must is a visit to Logan Botanic Gardens home to exotic ferns and palms and boasts a beautiful walled garden. Portpatrick is a quaint little seaside village which attracts visitors throughout the year and for the energetic it is the start of the Southern Upland Way, one of Scotland’s acclaimed long-distance footpaths. Mull of Galloway is another attraction not to be missed with its lighthouse and grass roofed visitor centre and is Scotland’s most southerly point with amazing views of Ireland, England, Isle of Man and Scotland. All in all, a stay at Kinvara will be the perfect holiday!

It's a quirky property, not sure if it's been a commercial small care home or similar in the past. Definitely in need of some maintenance/updating as mentioned in other reviews. The plug socket in the downstairs hallway came loose when we switched the lamp on, one of the bedroom windows couldn't be opened as it had been locked and there was no key in it and the upstairs shower could do with the sealant replacing. First impressions when you enter through the side door into the conservatory aren't the best as the dining chairs are extremely worn, they could do with being recovered or just being covered with washable covers. There was a swarm of wasps above the conservatory roof so there must be a nest in the roofspace although they didn't bother us too much. Games room is ok but there was only 1 dart so couldn't play darts. Some of the information on the notice board in the kitchen was out of date e.g. the wifi is a different one now and there was a sign asking for bins to be put out but no information as to when bin day was! Needless to say the bins were almost full when we arrived and were overflowing by the time we left. We also didn't feel comfortable with having to test the water in the hot tub ourselves, we've never had to do this before at any cottage we have stayed at. The hot tub foam clearer bottles were empty and we felt that the tubs of chlorine granules should have been in a locked container not left on the window sill where little hands can reach them. A guest book would have been nice so that guests can share recommendations of places to eat and visit etc.Having said all of the above, we did have a good time, the rooms are all really good sizes and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. We would stay again, it just needs a little bit of money spending on a couple of things that's all.

It was good but a few things needed updating the sink in the wet room was to small. The outside furniture and the garden its self could have been a bit more tidy. Also the duvet could have been a bit cleaner.

Some of the reviews say this cottage needs an update. That is the minim7m it needs. All of the furniture is old and worn, the who,e place has a very old people’s home vibe. There is absolutely nothing to store anything in/on in any of the bathrooms and if you have the upstairs room there is no wardrobe/storage at all. The door by the ramped access has split wood on the frame, and the glass doors to the garden don’t close properly and in fact blew open during high winds. There is no information packet that we could find, and no directions to get to the cattage so we had to rely on sat nav. The on,y saving grace was that it was fairly well equipped although the oven and hob took ages to cook anything. I don’t understand how this has such a high rating. It needs complete overhaul and updating.
