Guests say

Sobrachan Cottage in Dalmally is a highly praised holiday rental, celebrated for its stunning views, well-maintained fairytale gardens, and eco-friendly amenities. Guests consistently laud the property's tranquility, comfort, and the warm hospitality provided by the owner, Andrew. The cottage's off-grid capabilities, strong Wi-Fi, and the enchanting surroundings contribute to an exceptional stay, with many guests eager to return.

The property is frequently described as immaculate, spotless, and very well maintained. One review mentioned finding some areas not perfectly clean, but this seems to be an isolated comment in the context of overwhelmingly positive feedback.

The location is highly praised for its breathtaking views and seclusion, offering peace and tranquility. It is noted as remote, which is part of its appeal, although the long single-track road access may not suit everyone.

Guests find the property very comfortable, with special mentions of cozy beds and a warm atmosphere. Some guests noted the house can become quite warm in the evenings, and one mentioned the lounge seating could be more comfortable for larger groups.

Facilities are generally regarded as excellent, with strong Wi-Fi, a well-equipped kitchen, and a hot tub. Some guests suggested improvements such as more cutlery or cooking equipment, and one noted the dishwasher needed TLC.

While guests express gratitude for the welcome basket and the owner's helpfulness, there is not enough consistent information about gifts or special touches across the reviews to accurately score thoughtfulness. It should be noted that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.

About this property

Kilmartin 10 miles. This luxurious, modern house overlooks unspoilt Loch Awe and mountain Ben Cruachan. It's a unique opportunity to get away from it all, in the utmost comfort. Sobrachan also has a private, ten-acre semi-landscaped woodland garden, with streams, waterfalls, decorative bridges, and even a suspension bridge across its gorge, offering magnificent views down to the loch and Ben Cruchan beyond. Far from the traffic and bustle of daily life, there are glorious forest, river and hill walks from the doorstep, and the loch itself is under half a mile away. In this fairytale location, Sobrachan is finished to the highest of standards, making it an ideal stay for families, groups and couples who want a thoroughly relaxing break in one of the area's most well-appointed holiday homes. There is a large, fully equipped utility room with washer and dryer, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, supplementing a separate kitchen prep area with induction hob, two ovens and large fridge, overlooking the vast open-plan space that forms the main area of the house. There is also a large open-plan lounge area, with a two huge corner sofas, a cosy wood-burning stove, large flatscreen TV and a wide array of DVDs, games and books to enjoy. Guests can even have a sing-along (or musicians can gather safe in the knowledge they won't be disturbing anyone) with a fabulous antique grand piano resting underneath the staircase. This eco-friendly house is beautifully illuminated by natural light as the walls boast floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing astounding views of the loch, mountains, and garden in every season. Sobrachan offers five zip/link bedrooms providing flexible sleeping for guests, while four of the bedrooms host immaculate en-suites and the fifth is right next to the bathroom. The Master suite has its own dressing room, floor length windows overlooking the loch, and a bath. All bathrooms have generously proportioned raindance showers. Outside, there is decking with comfortable seating for a pre-dinner drink or lunch on the terrace. From Sobrachan, some of Scotland's most beautiful destinations are easily accessible. Historic Rannoch Moor and Glencoe is an hour away, the Tayvallich peninsula with sweeping views of Jura, and Kilmory beach, perfect for bracing walks and sealife-spotting boat tours are all ideal days out, while the charming harbour town of Oban, with regular ferries to the Western isles, is a 36 mile drive. The nearest pub can be found in Kilmartin, along with an ancient church, museum and coffee shop. On way are historic Carnassarie castle, standing stones and bronze age cup and ring marks. It is ideally situated with lovely views of the loch. Quiet, comfortable and with everything we needed for our stay. The owner was very helpful with all information provided.

Sobrachan is a magical place, the house and gardens are gorgeous. We were concerned that visiting in winter we might feel cold in all of the open space downstairs, we couldn't have been more wrong. The underfloor heating is superb and there's always the log burner to make the evenings feel cozier. We absolutely love the isolation the house offers and the views are magnificent no matter what the weather. Places we visited: Carnassarie castle, Lochgilphead, the isle of Skye (in magnificent weather) and my favourite place Crinan harbour, for a cheeky dook.

It is in the perfect location if you want to get away from it all. The scenery is breathtaking and the house superb. Our only suggestion would be to have two bird feeding stations one on the patio at the back and one on the patio to the side of the house. This will attract the birds that reside in the wonderful garden with it's waterfall, suspension bridge and lovely little corners where you can sit in the sun.
