You can almost touch the coastline of Cumbria. What a superb base for exploring Dumfries and Galloway, the Borders, Cumbria and the Lake District or further north.

Had many stays at Dornock Brow, this time my daughter got married at Gretna.We love this place such a beautiful view to sit and look at in the evening, watching the water come in and out and the birds in the garden. The garden is great for the dogs safe and secure.We find the cottage so relaxing just to chill out. The cottage is a good size with two bathrooms, with a large open plan kitchen, diner and lounge area and utility area.Close to Tesco and Aldi in Annan and a few miles from the Gretna shopping outlet. Plenty to do nearby by in all directions. I am sure we will be back again.

Overall it was a decent cottage however a few small points let it down .The first point is that until you arrive you are not aware that you have to drive through an abattoir’s yard to get to the cottage which is further on down a single track road . A bit naughty if guests are vegan or vegetarian as my partner is , particularly as we had to wait as sheep were driven across the road to be slaughtered .Other issue is the front yard where you park and access the cottage is very uneven broken concrete and covered in weeds including nettles which is not ideal !Cottage in a lovely location and the double bedrooms were good as was the longe living area .

This is our second stay at the cottage, the first was a few years ago to renew our vows at Gretna Green.The cottage is in a fabulous location and has a lot of charm. The weather was very good for most of the week, so we were able to sit outside and watch the ebb and flow of the Solway Firth, and the birds and rabbits in the garden.The only reservation was that on a couple of the sunnier days it was very hot and stuffy inside, but the large bi-fold conservatory doors don't open so we couldn't get the additional ventilation and breeze.All six of us had a lovely time and would be happy to stay again.
