Beautiful lodge in a lovely location with stunning views. Nearby Gatehouse of Fleet is a great little town with some nice cafes and restaurants.

The Galloway View lodge is in a mgnificent position offering good views of the estuary and mountains from the sitting room. It is well equipped and provides all that is necessary for a self catering holiday. Whilst being out of the town centre, Gatehouse of Fleet is easily accessible from the Lodge. That said, we were unfortunate to arrive on the weekend of a major cycling event during which vehicular access to the town was prevented. We only found out about the event when we tried to book a restaurant during the weekend and the owner of the rerstaurant informed us of the event and that even if we could have driven into the town no vacancies in any of the restaurants were available. Unfortunately, neither Cottages.com nor the owner of Galloway View felt it necessary to inform us of the event which would have enabled us to plan accordingly. Anyone booking this accommodation should, in my opinion, be informed that the track up to the lodge is rough and very uneven in places and whilst it can be driven along with care, anyone who suffers from lower back problems (as I do), will experience some discomfort.Overall, despite the two problems we encountered, we enjoyed our stay in the lodge, particlarly because ot its location, the panoramic views and the peace and quiet.
