Guests say

The Carriage in Castle Douglas is a unique and peaceful holiday spot, praised for its quiet location, quirky charm, and friendly owners. Guests enjoy the surrounding natural beauty, local eateries, and outdoor activities. The property is well-equipped, dog-friendly, and offers a comfortable stay with a touch of character.

Most guests found The Carriage to be very clean and well-maintained, though there was a single mention of cleanliness issues with windows and the shower, which slightly impacts the overall score.

The location is highly praised for its tranquility, easy access to local amenities, and proximity to coastal walks and nature trails, making it an ideal base for exploring Dumfries and Galloway.

Guests describe The Carriage as cosy, comfortable, and spacious, with extra heaters available for colder periods. The movement of the carriage adds to its unique charm.

While the reviews mention a variety of well-equipped facilities and the presence of an outdoor seating area, there is a lack of detailed information on maintenance, and one mention of a boiler issue, preventing a definitive score.

The owners are commended for their helpfulness and the thoughtful touches, such as leaving wine, milk, and biscuits. However, it's important to note that such gifts are a kind gesture and may not be provided on every occasion.

Better weather would always help but the Carriage is set in a very quiet and peaceful spot. Easy access to Castle Douglas and the wider area. Good shopping and a variety of eating options. The owners were very helpful and we would have no hesitation to recommend the Carriage. The nearby coastal walks and the Red Kite trail were great as was Glentrool and the Raiders Road for a bit further exploration.
