A lovely place to stay. The view was amazing. Everything you could need in the kitchen. More than enough room for three families without being on top of each other. More than enough fridge and freezer capacity. All the appliances you need. The garden was very big but not fully enclosed so you do have to watch both little ones and dogs. The patio area is great and there was plenty of parking for 3+ cars.

This is a true gem, a huge house overlooking Kippford and its estuary, with a breathtaking view over the latter and its own garden full of flowers and butterflies (we came in early August). Perfectly clean and outfitted, with Merwyn, the owner, next door and always ready to help, the house includes a living room and terrace facing west, where we spent hours in the evening enjoying the landscape. There are great walks along the coast starting a few yards from the house in the harbor (don't miss Castle Point...), and lots of relatively unknown attractions within thirty-minutes car trips, with few tourists and a definitely Scottish charm —medieval motes, ruined Tudor castles, an abbey, even one of the oldest rune-engraved church crosses in the British Isles. Besides the local pub in Kippford, the nearby towns of Dalbeattie and Castle Douglas also provide nice food, and shopping opportunities as well. Overall, the area is just as enjoyable as other, better-known Scottish regions to the North, and far less overrun by tourists (also, no midges...). The photographs depicting Grey Rocks do not do it justice. The house is brand new and is of 5 star accommodation.My party of nine consisted of three generations aged from 6 months to 75 yr of age. We found the house large enough where we could relax in different areas and congregate communally as we spent the week together.The facilities were first class, a brand new kitchen with up to date appliances and all the extras a large group required.With two separate lounge areas with great views from panoramic windows. More than enough comfortable seating in both lounges and an outdoor upstairs verandah with again comfortable garden style furniture which due to the great weather we spent our evenings with a glass or two of wine.All the bedrooms were large with plenty of cupboards and everyone in our party complimented the quality of the beds which were as good as any I have slept in a top class hotel.There was plenty of parking for our three cars two of which were plug in hydrids and appreciated the wall mounted ev charger. Mervynn the owner informed me there was no time restrictions on the use of the charger as it was included with the accommodation.There is a large well kept garden to the front and rear of the house and due to the exceptional weather we made full use with my grand daughters playing badminton with their equipment they had brought with them.To finalise I have stayed at many properties over the years and can say this was the best accommodation I have stayed at and can only thank the owner Mervynn for one of the best holidays we have ever had.
