Auchen Ladder is a newly built bungalow (in 2020), set on a working farm with far reaching views over open farmland towards Dumfries and the Solway coast in the distance. This detached property is beautifully presented with high quality fittings and furniture, and really is an absolute dream from the moment you walk through the door. The spacious open plan living space makes it a really sociable house, perfect for family holidays. French doors open from the living area to a private patio with your very own hot tub where you can relax and watch the stars!
Auchen Ladder is in a lovely, peaceful, rural location yet ideally located to visit the surrounding area which is simply beautiful. There is a huge range of activities close by no matter what time of year you visit. The county town of Dumfries, 4½ miles away, provides a wide range of shops as well as many interesting historical sites including Burns House, the home of the famous Scottish poet, Robert Burns.
Driving round this beautiful area of south west Scotland has so much to offer from the quiet sandy coves and cliff top walks to the many castles like Caerlaverock and Drumlanrig. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, this area has many beautiful gardens to visit, including Threave Gardens and Logan Botanic Gardens, Scotland’s most exotic garden. A stay here would also not be complete without taking a drive along the coast and a wander round the little seaside villages of Southerness, Rockcliffe and Kippford. Almost on your doorstep there are some supreme mountain biking and challenging hill walks, and with some of the darkest skies in the world where better to end the day at Auchen Ladder. Beach 17¾ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 4½ miles.

Fantastic 2 week stay in a fully stocked home in a great location.Amanda and John were welcoming and we loved the home baking as our welcome gift. The house was perfect, no complaints.Highly recommend Auchen Ladder as the perfect home away from home to explore and enjoy Dumfries and Galloway.

Highly Recommend. Everything perfect. Delicious homemade cakes were amazing. Lovely big hot tub under a big heavenly starry sky. Luxurious home. Bed very comfortable. Towels, linen, dresing gowns felt like posh hotel. Beautiful wooden floor with underfloor heating. Tv did the lot. Perfect WiFi. So many lovely places to visit, climb up Criffle, forest/river walks, waterfalls!

Auchen Ladder is an excellent property. It is warm and cosy, extremely clean and comfortable with modern fixtures and fittings. A great bonus is that it's all on the one level.The owner, Amanda, is a very friendly and welcoming lady. On arrival, she left lots of yummy treats for us to enjoy. She also very generously gifted a box of chocolates and a balloon to my mother-in-law for her birthday. This very kind gesture was greatly appreciated. The hot tub is an enjoyable and relaxing feature. Bathrobes, slippers and towels are provided to facilitate the use of this. Finally, my mother-in-law summed up Auchen Ladder as "the best ever!" Says it all really and we'll definitely be back.
