Stranraer became a Burgh of Barony in 1596 and a Royal Burgh in 1617. Stranraer lies on the shores of Loch Ryan on the northern side of the isthmus joining the Rhins of Galloway to the mainland. There are many shops and cafes to while away an hour or two and the Stranraer Town Trail explains some of the fascinating history. The location was amazing, isolated, with a stunning view of the Loch. The cottage itself was immaculate, and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. So light, clean, bright and airy. Plenty of space for the dogs, who settled in straight away. We had the best week. The only bad thing was having to leave! Just want to say a huge thank you to the owner/s for providing such a fabulous property! Can't recommend enough, we definitely want to come back.

We like that the property is so remote and very peaceful. The weather was not as good on our visit, but we still had a brilliant time with lots to do. The property was spotless and enough room for the 6 of us (4 adults and 2 children). We liked watching the wildlife around us; baby birds fledged while we were there. We saw birds of prey, sheep and a calf was born during our stay. The views are beautiful from the property. The track to the cottage is steep but the children felt it was part of the adventure! We also chose to walk up which was beautiful.
