Guests say

Driftwood is a well-received cottage praised for its cleanliness, stunning location right on the beach, and comfortable amenities. Guests appreciate the dog-friendly garden, the high standard of furnishings, and the well-equipped house. While there are minor concerns about maintenance and privacy, the overall guest experience is positive, with many looking forward to returning.

The property is consistently described as spotless and exceptionally clean, with no 'doggy smell' despite being pet-friendly. One review mentioned dirty windows upon arrival, but this seems an isolated incident.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to the beach, offering spectacular views and a sense of seclusion. It is also noted as a great base for exploring the local area.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, even during bad weather. The spaciousness and high-quality furnishings contribute to the overall comfort.

The property is well-equipped and maintained, with good amenities. However, there are comments about intrusive CCTV cameras and a see-through ensuite door, which suggest room for improvement in privacy and facilities.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the host. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

A lovely spacious cottage in a fantastic location right on the beach with reasonable amenities close by. However, for us, there were a number of things that detracted from our stay which may or may not bother others. The picture windows in the living room and kitchen are a key feature of the cottage so we were surprised to find that they were very dirty when we arrived and obviously hadn’t been cleaned prior to our visit. They were so bad and spoilt the beautiful views that we cleaned them ourselves and what a difference it made ! They should be cleaned prior to each booking. Next was all the annoying ‘polite notices’ around the place, they are everywhere ! When we stay in a holiday cottage we don’t want to live in an instruction manual constantly reminding us to close the door at night, wipe up spills on the hob, strip the beds, clean the BBQ, etc. We found the CCTV cameras overlooking the patio intrusive and gave rise to the feeling of being watched. We understand the need for security but when guests are staying the cameras should be turned off for privacy. The see-through ensuite door in the master bedroom is an absolute ‘No’ ….. someone using the facilities is not what we want to see, ever ! There is a 9am check out for the cottage which we felt was unreasonable and seems to be an unjustifiable post Covid hang over for some hosts. Trying to get 7 adults and children up, washed, dressed, fed, packed, the place tidied and out of the door by 9am is totally unrealistic and would have meant lots of tears and tantrums and a bad end to the holiday. Consequently we decided to leave the day before so we could take our time preparing to leave and then enjoy the afternoon at local attractions, without hanging around waiting for them to open at 10am, before we headed home. Driftwood is a lovely cottage and in an amazing location but it felt as if the focus was on the cottage rather than the guest experience and we wouldn't stay there again.

Absolutely beautiful roomy cottage with spectacular views. Everything we could possibly need was available in the cottage and it was super clean. Marlene, the owner, was lovely, a real pleasure to meet. We had dreadful weather which made even a walk along the beach a challenge, so it was lovely to come back to such a cosy cottage. Would highly recommend Driftwood.
